LOL, just messing Tucson is "interesting." Being from Phoenix we just view "Tuscum" with some negativity and having a smallish, dusty, ugly, granola feel. Old Tucsonians do refer to Maricopa County as the "Great State of Maricopa" since Tucson is the ugly stepchild in Arizona.

Heh, while I like Phoenix OK, it's certainly not the cherry of the sundae in my book and it has some even uglier areas. Granted, Maricopa County does have the power to sway elections and housing stats.

True, I think metro Tucson is still flirting with 700k people and Phoenix metro is flirting with 4.5 million people. Kind of a power strangle hold over the power of legislation in Phoenix. However, Tucson is still ugly. I believe in the 70's Life magazine coined Speedway Blvd as the ugliest street in America and it has yet to shake-up and fix that area.

While I poke fun at Tucson, I would love to see it experience an urban renewal like those that many cities in the metro Phoenix region are under going. Having AZ's two largest cities becoming gem cities of the Southwest would bolster AZ's economy and benefit the state in general.

I have doubts that there are a million people in Tucson's metro area but that maybe. It would be sad since there is little catalyst in the way of density in Tucson. Sadly it is even more suburban compared to Phoenix. There is no density like that of Tempe and Central City regions in Phoenix which means Tucson is growing tiles roofs as far as one can see.

Don't worry, dear! We're already about 20 miles from each other! Soon enough we'll be one gigantic AZ sprawl.

LOL, true! Well at least the reservations south of Phoenix will stymie growth to an extent. Also many cities in Maricopa County as well as MAG (Maricopa Association of Governments) are favoring urban growth boundaries...hopefully Tucson follows suit! I know those suburbs of Phoenix in Pinal County are of concern because they have little infrastructure and will lead to sprawling growth stretching to Tucson!

This place is not for me. I am used to big Pine trees, tall natural grasses growing, abundance of water, and good drinking water, like from an Artesian well, wide open spaces, and milder weather, thats not this hot. Would I recommend the place for someone to move to? No, especially if you have children.

Didn't you check it out before you moved? That's what the desert is like.
