Sounds like this film was to use golden equipment and platinum materials...

They spent all that money, and need to spend a little more on it - when they could have put that towards Police and Fire. But that is Rio Nuevo money, not general fund you say? Who cares? It's not like they are spending the money appropriately anyway!

By the way - there is a vote coming up for the Safety First initiative. This would mandate that the staffing levels of the Police and Fire depts would be increased to meet national averages. Damn shame there has to be an initiative to get this, it should have just been done.

I signed some petition to that effect and now regret it because I seem to forget how worthless they've been on all occasions I've had to deal with them. Well, the police... don't know about the Fire dept.

If I am reading that correctly, you are saying the police have been worthless when dealing with them?

If so, I can understand where you are coming from. TPD recently has been pretty hit or miss (from talking with people, sounds like more miss than hit) when it comes to the quality of service.

I know quite a few officers and I can sort of see why its been lousy in many cases. Morale seems to be low when you talk to them. They are not getting any help from the city. No funds for recruits or equipment. They are spread really thin.

Remember the Bank Robbery/Hostage situation on the East Side, late last year. They had to pull cops out of the West side over to the east for that situation, leaving parts of the town with no police protection. People called 911 and were told that there were no officers available to help them.

Exactly.

Great! If you can't get help calling 911, you don't have a prayer calling the regular number about more trivial matters.

Buy a firearm, get some training, and help yourself!
"If you want it done right, do it yourself."

Really, if we had the appropriate staffing levels, that would not likely have happened, and the quality of service would be way up from what it is now.
