The insulation matters, but definitely so does the usage... I've never paid more than $60-70 for a 1BR apt and the rates haven't changed since then. However, the AC was off all day and the thermostat was at about 78-80 when I was there. The place cooled down really fast, so I didn't see a point of keeping the AC on all day as I like fresh air. Actually, most of the time I had a window open while running it and still don't recall paying more. In other words, mileage can vary widely.

A beautiful thing about Tucson is that I've never had to turn on my heat in the winter. Not once. In fact, the city has taken my gas meter away! My electric bill goes WAY down once I stop using the AC.

I'm a dudette!
My townhome doesn't get that cold in the winter. I will admit that I have one of those little space heaters that I have used on the coldest days.
But even if you do use the heat, you will never pay as much as people who need their heating oil tanks filled in the winter.

Oh, nobody's arguing that. My bills are a little higher in the winter than in summer because I like it warm, but most people are not like me.

I just got my latest electricity bill. 230 bones! That covers two places of residence though, one of which went almost 2 months between meter reads.
