Especially those ones from Colorado. They've already had snow up there, and more's due this week. In fact, one of the ski areas opened today and another one on Friday. That's enough to send them running. We still have a house in CO, but we go up there for the holidays when everyone else is coming down here. Reverse migration.

But the good news is: Most of the baseball snowbirds who come for Spring Training will be spending their last Spring training here. Starting in 2011, they'll all flock to Phoenix and proliferate the hotels and restaurants up there or stay at the Salt River Casino and Ballpark.

Yup. Especially if you're a Sox or Rockie's fan and loved Tucson. And there are A LOT of them out there.

Yep, Tucson is doing a great job of getting people to go somewhere else. Getting the Gem show to hold it elsewhere would be a real accomplishment!

Hi, actinic! How are you doing? We Tucsonans like to kid about our snowbird infiltration. They're "cool"... Haha!

However... if the Gem Show pulls up roots and leaves... it leaves. Tucson needs to look at events which are more desirable anyway. The Gem show seems to bring in a lot of sleazebag "business" peeps and their mutual clientele. Does it make money for Tucson? Of course! Tucson's a great place to hold events.

This particular event has pretty much run its course, and its about time to cut the ties. Another better and cleaner event (with dollar signs in its eyes) will come a-callin' in no time. Why allow one particular event to hold Tucson hostage? Let's move on and bring in something else. And, hey... even if we don't immediately, Tucson will do just fine - it always has! Everybody wants to come here, anyway!

AMEN to that, Zony . . . The Gem Show Gang sure makes the local WalMart look like Nieman Marcus.
