My husband and I are at the opposite end of the housing cycle: retirement. We've lived in New Orleans, in the city. There are three projects within walking distance, and bad ares mere blocks away. And nothing ever happened. Katrina happened.

We've also been looking more to the southwest, around San Xavier. But we haven't been able to get out there yet and it has been years. What's you impression about the various areas?

Well in the area where we are moving. I spoke with a neighbor that has been there 10 months, he said nothing has ever happened that he heard of. The star valley area closer to the casino del sol which is new san xavier has more crimes than where im chosing. good place to go is crimereports.com that is a website that my father in law gave me to look at. that will tell you goog areas. near the san xavier is midvale park which is okay also but as you pass that highway is where it starts to get more crime ratings in that area.

I dont think you are with out crime anywhere. I recently moved to Tucson from Orange county ca, and I never had a problem with crime. I am here 2 months and I have already had someone enter my enclosed patio and take several items. Not small items but large items, and no one saw it. I am really upset more about the gall of someone to enter my private property. I live in the 85748 zip.

Great point, Loverof.

Crime is definitely everywhere, however, I believe most of the posters are emphasizing the "take every precaution possible to avoid crime" approach with their suggestion and advice.

On the flip side, it sounds fairly obvious that Wilson, the OP, has already made a decision so all of the posts are fruitless.

But, really, --- that area is waaay far away from everything, isn't it? We were just out at Casino Del Sol (didn't win anything) and it seemed like quite a hike.

Then again, I'm very centrally located, so I'm kind of spoiled.
