We're moving to Tucson on a very fast time scale (3 weeks to go across the country), and I'm looking for childcare for my 1 year old. I start work on November 7. I'm pretty familiar with the city, having lived there in the past, but not with a child. We will be living near Star Pass, and working near the airport.

Do you have any recommendations for either daycare or nanny services? I would prefer a nanny, but don't think we have the time to find our own (we will arrive in Tucson about 5 days before starting work). Trusting Connections has been recommended, and they seem like they could accommodate our schedule, but their pricing is quite high ($~2600/month for 8 hrs/day). Children's Learning Adventure has also been recommended to me, but after checking out their website, it doesn't seem like the best fit - it seems like Disneyland almost, while I'm more of a Montessori/hippy type. I'm interested in the Strauss Daycare in the Sam Hughes area - it seems much smaller, and I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any experience with it? There's also a La Petite on Midvale Park Road that I'm looking at - anyone know anything about it?

I would love a good Montessori school, but there doesn't seem to be one in a good location for us. I'm really looking for a more child-centered, free play sort of place. Mostly I want my kid to be happy, of course. :P Any thoughts/advice/experiences are very much appreciated! Thank you!
