I like to go to Cat Mountain Station on the way to Old Tucson. Great food, great little shops, etc. It seems to me that the far west side of town is completely different than the East side or Central. More relaxed, less expensive, and more beautiful. I will look for a house to buy in that area.

Whichever area of town one chooses is certainly up to that individual. You may receive all kinds of info from others as to why THEY wouldn't live there, but that's them. Any area can be absolutely what you need for it to be.

It's never been the same after the fire destroyed much of it.

The good news is that Old Tucson now builds with Disneyland fire-resistant fake wood...

When I was in my late teens and early twenties, during the late 1970's early 80's, I worked as a ride operator, apprentice gunfighter/stuntman, and movie extra at the pre-fire Old Tucson.
I count those five years as the some of the best times in my life.
