We mvoed from Maine to Tucson (had also lived in MD, NY, NJ, MA and have since moved to NC...so we've mvoed a lot!)

Anyway, yes, we loved it. I'd say of course you have to love heat (which I do). Things I loved:
-HEAT (yes, even in summer!)
-Hot winds (did I mention I love heat?? )
-great hiking, running, biking
-friendly people
-great views from everywhere!
-love the style of territorials (not so much the cookie cutter homes, but even they aren't as bad as the cookie cutters in the EAst in my opinion)
-great mini-vacations which are driveable (we went to San Diego and Mexico quite a lot)
-"monsoons" (great thunderstorms, although I will say that people talk a lot about how amazing they are. They are huge, BUT I've seen at least as major storms in many places I've lived. I guess they stand out here for people b/c ofthe contrast to the weather most of the year)
-wildlife (also a con!)

Cons:
-rattlesnakes (we lived in an area w/a lot of natural desert adn they were EVERYWHERE...which was scary w/small kids)
-scorpions (our home--which was new and apparently that makes a differnce-and had a lot of them. Again, did not like this with small kids
-missed simple things like clouds, lightening bugs, thunderstorms (outside of monsoon season)...basically missed having some exciting weather
-bobcats, coyotes are around a lot and although everyone SWORE they weren't dangerous to me, they still scared the c#$# out of me when I ran into them when running. Plus, the nagging "mountain lions live here" in my head when I ran in the mountains.

Overall, I loved it. I guess the negative boiled down to lack of "real weather" and my paranoia over the wildlife The positive far outweighed it. If not for my husband's work, we would have stayed for sure.

I just moved here from Massachusetts a month ago. I have lived in Arizona before, but in Phoenix and Flagstaff. I love it here in Tucson. I wouldn't listen to all the negative hype on this website; I think they are wrong! I'm enjoying it!

I m.oved here from New York City in February,
and all I tell people when they ask if I like it or not is....
"I wish I'd moved here 10 years ago!"
Tucson is a beautiful city, the scenery is amazing..sunsets, and yes the warm weather.
Having moved from N.Y..I could complain that the food isn't as good out here (I miss take-out Chinese!) and pizza...
and some of the little conveniences of living in a big city (like better public transportation) .
But all in all,,it's an amazing place, and I never run out of new places and things to discover.
If you like being close to and a part of nature and the real world...you'll love Tucson.
If you prefer the razzle dazzle of a big city....then you probably won't like it much however.
I'm so very happy to have Tucson as my new "home town"
