[quote=poophead;12486032]I traveled from my home state of KY to Tucson to visit some friends and get some warm weather in my soul for about a week. (12/24-12/3). I have also visited Tucson in the peak summer. (Msg clipped).

Thanks for this observation. I really want to move to Tucson but due to family problems I will first have to live in Reno awhile, (long story).

I found your pros and cons interesting and helpful, esp since I grew up in Cincinnati and WV so I pretty well know KY. I am sure I will have to get used to the brown but I am so ready to relocate and have change that I am open to all things new. When one relocates he/she realizes there are trade offs. Sure there isn't as much greenery but ALAS there also isn't as much precipitation which is one of the things I yearn to escape. When I live in Tucson and see the brown, I'll remember the white, which is now at 30 inches and more expected. I'll trade that for brown any day.

The folks being friendly is a big plus and outweighs some of the other things. I can take a multitude of things better that I can nasty people. I was glad to leave one city because to me most people had chips on their shoulder. Although it was green, the people sucked. IMHO, so I gladly left.

I am going to search this forum for such things as housing prices and services for retirees since I will be in that catagory. You are a bit young to have evaluated that but thanx for the start.

Totally agree. I love running in the morning when it's snowing. It's really quiet and peaceful. Seasons are wonderful.

You're welcome to come and do that. Although you may change your mind after you experience most days being gloomy like in the picture. Then the next day after the snow and the streets are plowed everything including the snow is muddy looking and slushy. It's really beautiful.

Try running in the cold when you have breathing problems. I'll take the heat any day.

I grew up in Wisconsin and enjoyed all seasons. Being in the country vs. the city probably made a difference.

Snow is very beautiful in pictures. Snow is like a bear or a lion. I love them in pictures but don't like the idea of confronting them in real life.

You haven't lived until you've gone out and hugged the cacti in Arizona.

My wife and I wil be there next week checking out real estate in Tucson. I'll put cactus-hugging on our "to-do" list.

We're retired and looking at Oro Valley and Vail.

Good choices, Pony? Anything special we should be looking for?
