Decent public education (the state on a whole lacks this)

Acceptable transit system (no interstates except for I-10)

A way to block out all the jet noise from the base

Enough frequent, decent entertainment.

Decent paying jobs to cover the overpriced housing

To be fair, there is a decent selection of restaurants and it is slightly better for climate then Phoenix, and its a lot nicer than Phoenix for cycling and hiking. Thats about the only positives I can think of.

We used to live in California, and they had many, many GREAT Chinese restaurants. One or two nice ones here--that's it. We occasionally drive to Phoenix for the much bigger foodie events and festivals.
