Be very careful, and try to negotiate a 6 months lease.
Tucson rentals are extremely overpriced!
I've already reupped twice at my apartments. The management has always been really responsive, grounds are very nice, etc. Probably not accurate to paint with such a broad brush.

And as to price, I'm with Oasis. It is much, much cheaper here than it was where I was at on the east coast. $800 a month would have gotten you some squalid dump where I previously lived. Here you get a really nice two bedroom with an excellent view of the mountains across the street.

Different strokes though, I guess.

i lived at Casas Adobes apartments off Oracle and Rudasill for five years. it has nice landscaping with tennis courts and ample pools for that size a complex, but that's about it. the walls were thin so i could hear what my neighbors were doing both upstairs, downstairs and at the side. my apartment was in front of the pool so noise level was high. the police were there often to remove squatters and illegals. as with any high traffic of people usually means drugs going through the place, which there was. i wouldn't recommend it.

Compared to what? I've lived in five states and Tucson rental prices are cheaper than any place I've lived.

I agree with Jukesgrrl. Tucson is ridiculously cheap to live in, besides the A/C costs.

Apartmentratings.com is a wondering place to check out potential apartments. Just take the negative ranting with a grain of salt. There's going to be something wrong with every apartment/neighborhood you live in and the ridiculously negative comments are from people who either expect perfection or are irresponsible themselves. Try to look for the more level-headed comments.
