Default Fence regulations in Mid-town

Hello all,

I have been a homeowner in the brookside area for the last couple years. I have noticed a particular homeowner on my street just recently had a fence installed on the side of their residence that protrudes from their back yard, to within 4 feet of the street out front. It starts out being above 8 feet tall along the house, but tapers down to about 5 feet once past the front of the house. I'm not sure what the county regulations are, atleast in this area, for fencing that continues past the line of the house but this seems as it would be a hazard for the people next door that have their driveway right next to it. Backing out cars would be pretty hazardous due to not being able to look down the street to check for traffic. Unless you drive a lifted truck, I would imagine this could be grounds for a pretty large lawsuit if a traffic accident (especially if injuries were involved) were to happen.

Any thoughts on this, as I have no idea where to find information regarding this. Thanks!

The poor guy probably has crappy neighbors. The fence shields him and his family from the crappy nextdoor crackhead losers urinating on his wife's SUV. Every neighborhood has that can't keep a job, POS, fat wife, dog bark'n for food water and attention, beer in hand, wearing a wife beater T with flip flops, can't afford to keep the water turned on but driving a C-series Mercedes... You know the type.

Why don't you call Tulsa City Code Enforcement if Tulsa has one and see what they say. We at City-Data would be interested to hear their's reply......

Although fences do not require a building permit, the City’s Zoning Code limits their height to 8 feet behind a home’s front façade and 4 feet in the front yard.

Fencing in your front yard may not exceed four feet in height. Side and backyard fencing may not exceed eight feet. INCOG Land Development Services staff can discuss the allowed heights for fencing. The City of Tulsa requires a building permit to build retaining walls. In some cases, screening fences are required between residential and commercial/industrial areas. For more information, please contact INCOG at 584-7526. NOTE: Restrictive covenants may differ. Check your deed for restrictions.
