Drive "through" McDonalds
This is a pic of the largest McDonalds in the world (or at least it used to be), outside of Tulsa. Interstate 44 runs UNDERNEATH this McDonalds. Too bad the "R" and the "S" are missing from Will Rogers statue. That's blasphemy in Oklahoma!

1. Why is it built over the interstate?
2. Why are people still eating those worm burgers
Mcdonald's says the reason their burgers tastes different is because they use special ingredients. (Note) the FDA says that when a restaurant uses a special ingredient they do not have to disclose it. WORM PROTEIN?????

The pic of Will Rogers next to McDonalds is ridiculous. It makes me want to laugh, but be very dissapointed that Mc even proped him up there. What a statement for Oklahoma to have a figure of such significance being attached to a fast food chain.....Shame on Oklahoma (Im sure Mc gave a bit of money for that prize!). A better sculpture of Will Rogers can be found at Will Rogers airport...If anyone has flown in or out of that airport they would realize how great it is. The airport is developing its second phase which is very impressive. One of cleanest airports I have been to in a long time. It has the most direct flights in the state and is by far the most advanced airport in the state and the nicest. If OKC could just get some mass transit.....

The McD's-uses-worms urban legend has been around for years. According to something I heard about this on the news once, it's highly unlikely to be true, for the simple reason that worms cost ten times as much per pound as beef!

Just so you know, this building was not originally a McDonalds. I can't remember the name of the restaurant that used to occupy the space, but it closed many years ago (in the '80s I think). Then McDonald's moved in.

It used to be called the Glass House and was a sit down style family restaurant ran by Interstate Hosts, later bought up by Marriott. Which later became Hosts Marriott International and then became Autogrill which owns Burger King. So the biggest McDonald's actually was built by a company that eventually owned Burger King.
Here's a great page with pictures as it used to look.

The restaurant was built when the turnpike was built, in the late 50's, and is an example of the architecture of the day. That's about the time McDonald's was started too, so arches were popular then I guess.
I waited out a rainstorm there once, when it was already McDonald's. It was cool to watch the cars and trucks drive under the restaurant in the rain.

Scaramedic, thank you so so much for that additional info! I couldn't remember the old name of the place, but I remember that it was much much nicer than the ol' McDonalds.
