Hi My name is Liz and Im a 24 y/o AA female with no children looking to possibly relocate from st Louis, mo to Tulsa. I'm only in the planning stages and wanted to get some insight from people who currently or have lived there. Specifically here are the questions I have:

1.What are some safe fun neighborhoods?
I'm from STL and have lived in every kind of neighborhood but would prefer to live somewhere relativity safe
(I know that crime happens everywhere)

2. How about the nightlife? I've seen Tulsa/OK labeled as bible belt and while I am Christian I do like to go out and have good clean fun! Are there any nice spots?

3. Gas Prices- I know, I know I can just look this up but I wanted to know how it fluctuates, meaning here STL I know to get gas on Tuesday because it goes up on Wed. by 30 cents at a time!!!

4. Cost of Living/ Employment- Ive done a couple of searches already and have already reached out to a couple of firms but really don't have an idea of the cost of living in Tulsa such as food and utilities

Those are specific questions but please feel free to give me any info you can!! I would really appreciate it!!!!

You may want to check my other post to a fellow engineer who is moving to Tulsa but I will answer your questions to the best of my knowledge. The link has the latest firearm crime map from Tulsa World. Seven areas in Tulsa have the most gun crimes, analysis shows | Tulsa World

1) North Tulsa is not nearly as bad as East STL but areas between Pine and Apache appear to be the worst as well as an area north of it. This area during the day is reasonably safe to drive through but should be avoided at night. The two areas south of 21st Street are safe to drive through even at night but I would not recommend walking in these areas. As far as safe AND fun neighborhoods, you'll probably look at Brookside with Downtown Tulsa being the next safest. Cherry Street is pretty safe but the area just north of it on the other side of the BA expressway is not great.

2) Please see my other post.

3) Tulsa and OKC have some of the lowest gas prices in the country due to it's proximity to Cushing and having several refineries in the state. Gas is still over $3 but I have seen it this year under $3.

4) I have found that the standard online COL calculators are pretty accurate for OKC and Tulsa. The nice thing is that the salaries in the energy industry do lag Houston but are above other areas of the country.
