Default Looking for church recommendation for holidays in Sand Springs area

Dear all

I am hoping you will be able to help me as I have been praying on what direction I should go in with finding a church and was reminded in prayer that I could reach out to this forum.

I will be in the Tulsa/Sand Springs area over the holidays and would like to attend church to celebrate as I would have done had I stayed home. I currently attend a baptist church and the service is contemporary (praise band, modern praise and worship (think Let it Rise, Here I Am to Worship, etc) and there is a wonderful relaxed non-preachy atmosphere. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming and supportive. The pastor is extremely approachable and preaches in a kind, gentle yet very effective manner.

I know I could probably just pick any church but here is why the church choice is so important. I will hopefully be bringing my family-in-law with me. They have been looking to get back to church for a long time. They stopped going almost 15 years ago because two times in a row the church took financial advantage of them. It has sadly driven a wedge between them and their spiritual experience. I know they 'want' to go back because it has come up several time but they really don't know where to go or who they can trust.

I don't want to start a debate here about forgiveness and all that stuff but I would love to have some recommendations from yourselves on where you think we should attend a christmas eve or christmas weekend service. As I would be bringing a 13 year old boy I am hoping the church will appeal to youth so that he will be inspired to go.

OK, that was a long post and I will submit it with prayer hoping that you can help.

Thank you.

I don't live near Sand Springs so I can't recommend anything. I hope someone on here will see this and help you find a great church to take your in-laws.

there are great churches all over the place. The trouble is, what makes it great for one person is the antithesis of great for someone else. If you can be a bit more specific, perhaps we can guide you to one you will love.

Goodpasture might have some problems with electricity because of the ice storm. Sand Springs was hit pretty hard, according to the Tulsa World.

Like I said, I don't live there, but this church sounds nice. I like the way they have community meals and a lot of youth activities. Maybe someone from the area can comment once the storm is over.

Thank you for taking the time to reply and look one up!

Yes, I hope someone who is familiar with the churches is on this board and responds. It would be an awesome gift indeed to bring them back to a church.

As for specifics... I personally go to a baptist church and enjoy that but that is not necessarily their ideal. I know their previous church was 'Church of God' but that was where they had their bad experiences so I am not sure if they want to try that again.

I would say a baptist church with a contemporary service (praise band) and a good youth program might be good for them as the primary purpose is for their nephew (age 13) to get something out of it.

I hope that helps.

Thanks again,

Jude

They are having a tough time in the Tulsa area right now. 200,000 people are without any electricity and it will be cold tonight.

Dear Peggy

Yes, I just called my in-laws! They said no power till at least Wednesday. Awful... they must be so cold.

Well, I hope everyone gets their power back soon.

Thanks

Default Church Recommendation

Hey I just joined this site because I saw your post on google. I live in Sand Springs and volunteer at an amazing church!! It's called Word of Life Fellowship. It is located off the 81st Street exit off on the Sand Springs Expressway (64-51) about a mile or two North (call for exact directions... sorry a bit directionally impaired : ) ) . We are a non-Denominational church. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the church, the phone number is 918-245-0262. Or you can go to :: word of life fellowship - sand springs, ok | home page ::. Hope this helps you out. If this is not the kind of church that you prefer, please still call and the secretaries will be able to help you find a church to help fit your needs!! We'd love to be able to get you connected somewhere, even if its not with us!!

Default Church in Sand Springs, OK

Here is another church that looks like a great place to visit. It is Word of Life Church in Sand Springs, OK. They also seem to do a lot for the family. Here is their URL address. http://www.wolonline.net
