That was a very beautiful post, but I don't understand this comment~
I dont want to fall in line of all my ancestors, i dont want to live in a world of deadends, why live in an environment where i have to fight so hard to only go so far when I can go to a state like South Dakota where racism still lives, but I have a way better shot as a poor man there than a wealthy man in Louisiana.

I think he meant that racism exists everywhere and just picked SD out of the air. South Dakota is a state much like Oklahoma, I think. Racism exists in Oklahoma and South Dakota as well, but to a far lesser extent than many places, imo. I hope you find what you are looking for LousianaLegend.

My wife is from Louisiana and she feels that Tulsa is a much improved area. She felt like much of Louisiana was mired down and depressed on racial, economic, and may other levels. Much of her family comes to visit and really like it here.

Exactly synopsis, therefore the main focus wont be whether im black or white, it will be my character and my intelligence. Now thats another story, I know i wont talk as well as you people there, plus I am somewhat of a product of my environment which was the slums and the "hood". Its gonna be very interesting to see how I will be recieve in Oklahoma's seemily advanced society. Much of the things about me are street oriented, but my curiosity seeks broadway like plays, arts, goverment, politics and society issues. Things like thats are not as revalent in Louisiana as in Oklahoma, especially in my neck of the woods. I mean look at u Tulsa, u are building a giant new multipurpose arena. I want to be around some folks for a change who love their environment. I will definitely stand out in Tulsa, I seek knowledge and will explore the city up and down. I need to find a good social spot where all the older wise residents go in the morning. I use to like doing that here in Louisiana, I thank thats the best way to gain a good sense of life as a youth, but where is it T-TOWN, OK?

Standing out won't be a problem, especially if it's in a good way. If people suspect you are from out of state they usually go out of their way in Oklahoma to make you feel at home. People will more than likely react to you on how you react to them. Become a part of the community and you will probably do very well LL. You sound like an intelligent person and I think you'd do just fine in Tulsa.

Although i do not live in oklahoma i hope all goes well for you there LL. Infact your attitude is so positive and wanting the best for Tulsa so maybe in the future we'll be reading about you running for city council or mayor, school board member or Chamber of Commerce etc....
This country has been so negative that i find that people that are positive really attract others to them and thrive.
Best wishes LL.......

Hello Louisanna's Legend, I agree with Good Pasture. Tulsa is not really about race, its more about attitude. I am a 1/2 breed, half Native American & 1/2 white. I have been around a couple of older African Americans, whom believe that the past still lingers today. I can & do appreciate their knowledge & feelings, but I feel to that we must do our own personal best not to continue to re-live the past, but to live togather in unity. Living in the past will not help us move forward. I have read & heard true to life stories of the race riots, segregation, & hate crimes against various races.
We all hurt when we are pinched, we all feel sadness when we lose a loved one, we all bleed when we are cut. We cannot erase the past errors of our forefathers, but we can move forward with the knowledge of the past to correct and make things better in our life time for future generations. I've not met anyone who saw me as a certain color or race. Tulsa really is a great place. I find that I do get along with just about everyone, because I see myself as an equal. Its kind of like I have always told my kids, be proud of who you are, and remember that no one is any better than you, we are all human, & everybody burps & farts just like you do, its just a body function, and everyone does it. That has gotten them through oral book reports, social functions, & being snubbed by the snobs. LOL. I am sorry if this offends anyone, it is not meant to. You sound like a true legend, & would make a great mentor ! Kids of today need more Legends & mentors like yourself ! { Smile } We need more people like you !

Wow! And welcome to our fair city, LL! With an attitude like your's, you will go FAR here or in whatever other city is lucky enough to have you as one of their citizens.
And Goodpasture, I'm with Synopsis. Your words were truly words of wisdom that will resound in the heart of LL for many years. I am a better person after having read both your's and LL's posts.
Right on!
