Default Relocating to Tulsa area

Hi, I wondered if I could get some info from Tulsa residents. My family and I will be relocating to Tulsa for my husbands job. He is a truck driver and his company has a terminal there so he'd be able to get home more.
We are wanting to get some info on the the better elementary school districts and better neighberhoods to rent in. Also curious on the crime rates and such.
We live in Albuquerque, NM now so we dont figure it could be much worse.

Thanks any feedback would be helpful.

Crime rates weren't great this year but a lot of effort is being put into reorganization and training new officers.

I consider Tulsa Public Schools to be hit and miss. They have one high school which is #3 in the nation and others with extremely high drop out rates. They have several charter schools that use alternate teaching styles which are quite impressive.

The suburban school districts Union (which covers SE Tulsa and Broken Arrow) as well as Bixby, Jenks, Broken Arrow, Owasso, etc are all solid.

Tell us what kind of house, price range, land, and atmosphere you want, and we can point you to a neighborhood. Average housing price is around $60 per sq ft meaning a 1,000sqft house is around $60,000 to purchase. Average rental costs are around $1 per sq ft. but in both cases it can vary wildly depending on what you want in a rental unit. Many times you can find a really good 2 bedroom for $600.

I went to Broken Arrow Public Schools and loved it. I got a great education and my family still lives in the growing community of Broken Arrow.

Oklahoma City sits at about 1300 feet above sea level, but if you really want some altitude in Oklahoma you should go up into the Oklahoma panhandle where it's almost 5,000 feet above sea level..

The best school districts are JENKS and UNION , however the only top 100 Nationally Rated and Ranked school is on the Northside of Tulsa Booker T. Washington, tulsa crime rate is pretty much like that of Albuquerque NM maybe some what better, try living in JENKS or Broken Arrow.....school related link
