My son is a senior in high school and has enrolled in Tulsa Welding School in the fall. We live in a small south Texas town and are clueless on where to even begin our search for a place to live. I too, have heard of the horror stories of break-ins, etc and am terrified of this leap. I hear, from this site, that around 21st street is a decent place to find an apt., however there are 4 boys from here that are planning on attending together, and they have come up with the idea of travel trailer/mobile home community living might be ok, anybody have an ideas on this?? I'm the divorced parent who doesn't want his son to leave Texas. Please help.

Good neightborhood & apartment for student attending Tulsa Welding School

Hi Denam and welcome to the forum. Since I have no firsthand info to give you, I thought I'd provide the link above. In that thread you'll find a bit of info along with a link to another thread that Peggy provided. It will also give you an idea of who is in the same situation you're in so you'll be able to gain valuable info from them. Good luck to your son.

I finally fixed that link, with my new found powers.

Denam, hi and welcome!

I agree, it would be helpful to check the posts of other parents of students at the welding school.

if it's a bunch of boys living together, i wouldn't be too worried. Now if it was a single girl .. then maybe i'd be concerned. I live in tulsa and the cops are really cracking down and working with the security in apartment complexes. A trailor would be a safe idea. cuz then you could like, put a gate around your land and have cameras, etc...
as for the apartments on 21st street.. 21st and what? the further north you get in tulsa the smaller the numbers get. it's better to live in the higher numbers.. like ninety first... anything smaller than 71 i'd say is kinda high crime.
