Default Possible Downtown Ballpark for Drillers

This proposal by Tulsa is fantastic. I really hope it works out!
Forget Jenks people!! Invest in Tulsa!

The only problem I see with it would be the enormous cost. 70 million for a AA ballpark is beyond ridiculous! AAA doesnt have a ballpark that comes close to that amount.
Lets be smart...not scare away voters and place the price tag to where people will vote YES. 25-35M would build a great stadium and then use the rest of the dough to develop the Blue Dome district to get people to live downtown. Private investment will follow if money is thrown around in mutiple directions. Its a must to revive downtown.

The residents of Tulsa will probably vote this down as well. They don't have the confidence in their leadership like OkC does. 70 mil is probably on the level of the other ballparks right? How much did the SBC Ballpark cost in OkC? I know it's a triple A, but I think Tulsa wants a better ballpark than a typical AA so they can host Big XII tournaments. I hope it works out.

I think that it has a very good chance of being built because the city might just force it(Ha Ha). Plus private money is involved.

The SBC Bricktown Ballpark cost around 36M and is considered one of the nicest in AAA.
Most expensive AAA ballpark is Sacramento Raley Field at 48M.
The most expensive ballpark (Dr.Pepper something) in AA is at around 23M.
Here is a good website about ballparks...
Baseballparks.com, for fans of baseball parks

Who knows, maybe an urban village near it or something will be included in the costs. That would be really cool.

Here is a rendering of what it might look like...Looks good to me!! It seems to include parks and stuff so the 70M is probably the cost of the entire project and not just the ballpark.

Thanks HT. I've seen these plans before. It does include developments and condos in the area as well as a whole lot of other amenities. It would really start a progressive move in DT Tulsa towards more like Bricktown in OkC. Like I've always said before, all of these new developments in OkC are good for the entire state. If not just for sheer dollars being brought into the state, it pushes Tulsa to try and compete (in a good way).

It looks like it will happen. There is a company called global development partners out of DC that is working on this to happen. Below is a link to a huge PDF with details and a lot of pictures.

Very, Very impressive...That will be a lot nicer than the jenks riverwalk!
Constructed by 2009? That sort of project looks at least like a 5yr plan!

I don't think there is any way that it can be finished by 2009, if it gets approval. It's an entire area that resembles Bricktown more than it does the Jenks Riverwalk. I think you are correct, it would take at least 5 years HT.

I think it is mixed, but am not sure. I do know it will have to go up for a vote, and the citizens of Tulsa are much more negative about tax money than their OkC counterparts. But, how can you blame them, their streets really are a mess and their tax rate is higher than OkC even IF Okc passes the new measure. The city leaders do not have the confidence of their citizenry like OkC.

I'm confident Tulsa will get things turned around, but there are so many squabbles going on in that town right now it is pathetic. I monitor a lot of Internet sites having to do with issues up there and there is a lot of controversy.
