Need advice
Hi all- Need everyone's input here. I have a job interview in Tulsa for a position that I would definitely enjoy, but there is a slight catch (isn;t there always a catch ) The job would start at only $29K per year and go up apporx 5% annually. Now up here in overpriced cold, metro Milwaukee, 29K is not too good. My question to you all is: Can 1 person live somewhat comfortably in the Tulsa area on 29K? I live a modest lifestlye, but still want to be able live and save a little. I know the cost of living is less, but if a person can;t reasonably live on that, I won't travel the 780 miles to interview, if it isn;t worth it. I'd be looking to rent in a decent area not too far from Tulsa, in a safe town, where I could bicycle after work and on weekends without danger or difficulty.
Are there any inexpensive yet decent areas 1 person could live decently on that kind of pay? Thanks for all your help!!

A person can live very comfortably (depending on lifestyle and the ability to say no) on $29k in Tulsa.

Broken Arrow is the 22nd Safest City in America. It is a growing suburb just south and east of Tulsa with nearly 100,000 people. It is also on the list for most affordable areas in OK and one of the most affordable suburbs in the South. It is constantly gaining awards for its police dept. If you live along the Creek Turnpike in Broken Arrow, you can bike on the nice trails. If you wanted, you could bike all the way to downtown on the trail system from Broken Arrow to Tulsa.

If you are single and not loaded with debt, the answer is yes, for sure. There is a cost of living calculator I use a lot, but strangely enough, Milwaukee is probably the only major city not on the list. Perhaps you can find a suburb of Milwakee on there.

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma is a GREAT Place to Live!
I'm originally from BA and went into the military in 1998, and was stationed near Savannah, GA. Over the years of going back, Broken Arrow just keeps getting better and better. The school system is great (or at least it was when I was there). People are friendly for the most part and there's literally NO crime in Broken Arrow (there has been a rise in gangs in Tulsa however)Honestly, if it weren't for some family related issues (custody battle-long story), we would move back in a heartbeat as the cost of living is great and there is a lot to do. It's a great place to raise a family. Plus, it's such a clean cut town that is literally 5 minutes from Tulsa with the use of the newer Creek Turnpike. The only thing I don't like about Oklahoma is that there are a LOT of toll roads, but if you can live with that, then you're good to go! Also, there are many, many restaraunts in Tulsa. So many in fact, that you could spend a lifietime just trying them all out, lol! Good Luck!!!

You could live very nicely on that income indeed. You are tired of the Wisconsin Winter Wonderland, huh?
