My family and I are relocating to the Tulsa area soon. We are searching for a home to buy in Owasso, Broken Arrow, or Claremore. I can tell that they are all three great places to live and raise kids, but what neighborhoods do I need to AVOID moving into in any of these places? I want the typical, quiet street, safe for families and pets, nice homes ($115,000 - $130,000.00 range) with similar neighborhoods surrounding me. So, I am sure there are very few bad areas in these three places, but not being from OK, I have no idea. Please advise. My realtor keeps telling me that they legally can not disclose or persuade clients in any direction, but come on . . . I'm moving my family and investing a chunk, I can not do it blindly. So please, I need the REAL dirt on these squeaky clean suburbs from people who live or have lived in them. Any help is appreciated . . . thanks!

I live in Owasso so I'll speak to that community. Owasso is fast growing bedroom community that is slowly getting some much needed shopping and restaurants. It has great schools, amongst the best in the state in my opinion. My son graduated from Owasso two years ago and he has nearly a 4.0 GPA in engineering school right now, so kudo's to Owasso for preparing him well.

Your price you mentioned will be tough, there are no bad neighborhoods in Owasso, there is very little crime. But for the price you mentioned, you will be limiting yourself to very few neighborhoods, one that comes to mind is Elm Creek, here is an example:
Elm Creek Estates Real Estate, Owasso - Elm Creek Estates Homes for Sale, MLS Listings

But, Owasso does have alot of sinners! They must, they have a whopping 46 churches and more are being built:

IF you have read many of my posts you would know that I am a real estate appraiser. I teach at an appraisal school, and the bulk of my practice is review work, so I work all over the state. My kids graduated from Broken Arrow, I grew up outside of Owasso, and a large part of my family lives in Claremore. I used to live in Bixby and Liberty Mounds area. There are some rougher areas in north Tulsa, along the Osage County Line, but I cannot think of a single "bad" neighborhood in any of the areas you mentioned.

I am in Broken Arrow this is such a great community for raising kids. If your kids are into the arts, BA Schools offer a wide range of activities for your kids to excel in. The Broken Arrow marching band won Grand Nationals in 2006. If your kids are into sports, the city has a couple of really top quality sports parks and churches around town like Arrow Heights Baptist Church offer great sports leagues.

I think you will easily find something in your price range in Broken Arrow. The north and eastern part of the city is really growing with Bass Pro coming in 2005. Target is starting construction on a new store and the new 5-story St. John Broken Arrow Hospital will be going up soon.

I really cannot think of a neighborhood that has crime or noise. The Tulsa World has a story today about how Broken Arrow's crime rate went down last year and the city is ranked #22 overall in the U.S. The police department in Broken Arrow is amazing. The chief is going to Germany soon to talk about what his department has done to make BA a quality community.

Good luck in your search. If you have any questions about Broken Arrow, let me know.

Hi, Where are the nicer areas of BA. We are relocating there soon from Frisco Texas, we are looking for a pretty centralized location, were churches, schools, shopping would be easy to get to were looking for a nice sized yard with a pool community(not a pool in our yard) were looking to spend about 150,000.
I have to admitt we went down there this weekend and were very disappointed we didnt see anything nice were wonderin if we missed somthin, we came in throug north BA and saw intermediate south high and went down Elm, we went throug the housing addition across from the wal-mart and then we tried to go down main. I relize we didn't see everything, can you help?
