By the way, does anyone else find it irritating when a poster starts a thread, asks questions, gets answers to those questions, and then never checks back in to say thanks for the info? Ingrates.

A word to the wise Tulsa Oklahoma is definitely not A "It "City , or by any stretch of the imagination a "WoW" City. Therefore if I ever expect to see my family again ( in my life time) I am Forced to make Tulsa into a exciting City. Instead of scheduling my vacations to (it) or (hot cities) I scheduled my vacations to Tulsa because at the end of the day (blood is thicker than muddy water) as a matter of fact blood is thicker than mud!!!!! People that don't know how to grab excitement out of thin air are going to be very frustrated in Tulsa Oklahomabe. My only suggestion is to make sure to check out all of Tulsa World Class venues , attractions, icons , do you realize that Tulsa has a Rolex watch store and that Tulsa has a Saks Fifth Avenue store ....was just there in October 2018.

I have endured my fair share of uneventful trips to Tulsa to visit family. You're right you have to make it what it is while you are here. But the comment "I don't know anyone that doesn't want to leave Tulsa" is also very true. I have described this town as a psychic vortex. If you do not have a guaranteed way out you will get stuck. Its way too cheap in salary and rental to actually save your way out unless you are in the upper middle class and if that's the case you are in American Nicaragua, stashing your money until you eject for a new life in the redneck rivera or Florida or a spread of 40 acres or what ever.

Anyways... thanks for letting me get that off my chest. I'm outta here tomorrow. Parents are dead and i don't talk to the rest of the family. I only hope that I have one or two more visits and I can never ever ever come back here again.

Make certain to come back to Tulsa in 2019 when the BRT " bus Rapid Transit" line is completed.

And when the phase 2 of "A Gathering Place" the World Class PARK is completed.

Then in 2020 come back to Tulsa when the " OKPOP Museum " Oklahoma Pop Museum is completed across the street from the Cain's Ballroom and Cain's Ballroom sidewalk Walk of Fame.

I will list the places that I visit when i stay in Tulsa OK.

1. The BOK Center
2. A Gathering Place
3. Riverside Park\ Uptown Tulsa
4. Turkey Mountain
5. Cherry Street\ Swan Lake Park\ Utica Square
6. Brookside
7. Route 66\ Tulsa University area
8. Woodward Park
9. Pearl Street District
10. Bradley Theatre
11. Chandler Park
12. Upper Riverside Park and Jenks

I’m not a people person, but there are plenty of places to find a crowd. I see plenty of good music venues, there are Casinos, The Gathering, downtown has plenty of places to drink and dance, plenty of shopping and restaurants. There are numerous lakes and golf courses.

Best to rent a car if you are visiting or use Uber when needed. Is it New York? No, thank god. The traffic isn’t bad. Like or leave it, but I’m happy here and won’t miss another car on the road or person to wait behind in a line. I’m an outdoorsman and Tulsa has plenty of things to do, in and out of the city.

Having lived in Tulsa for 50+ years and have had the privilege of quite a bit of nationwide travel in my lifetime, I am glad to call Tulsa home. I've seen nicer looking cities and cities that were not so nice. I have discovered that one can live in the most upbeat and "hip" of cities but still be miserable. A place is what you make of it. If someone isn't happy in one place they probably aren't gonna be happy (for long) elsewhere. I haven't found a great deal of advantages that other larger cities offer besides say professional sports and perhaps seaside cities that you won't find here. Every city will have its luster points and parts that aren't so friendly. If you are happy with yourself you will be happy and content wherever you are. The opposite is also true as well. The fun of a new city, car, job or whatever eventually loses it's luster and becomes old causing those who are always in the search for greener pastures to look elsewhere hoping to find "it" (whatever that may be).
