Uh, Owasso is known right now for growing too quickly for it's own good. Just to state an example, several newly built restaurants (Fuddruckers and such) had to close down because they weren't getting enough business. But give it time, more and more people are beginning to move there. It's a nice city, seems like most of it has been built in the past 5 years. Not so sure about the school district.. Union is probably the best when it comes to education and whether it's safe for your kids to walk around, well anywhere anymore is unsafe but it depends on your location really.

I've never lived in a city, and I don't let my kids wander all over out suburban town, but they do walk over to friends and the park and the town swimming pool. I've herd wonderful things about Tulsa, I lived in Ok 37 yrs. before I moved here to Texas.

Frisco is growing pretty quickly as well like Owasso. However, Frisco has had more of a plan behind it's growth. Owasso has been letting developers do whatever they want, wherever they want, so long as they come to Owasso. There is a lot of retail growth but it is not easy to get to or get around in. Also, if you work in Tulsa, know that there is basically only one highway and no mass transit options. That being said, you can get a nice house in a nice neighborhood and go to nice schools in Owasso.
In about any area in Tulsa, it is okay for kids to go outside to play and walk to a friends house, especially in the day and age of cell phones. South Tulsa in the Union area has more established neighborhoods and Owasso is going to be more new neighborhoods.

I live in Owasso, have since 1981, except for a 5 year absence relocation to Corinth Tx. Owasso has some of the best schools in the entire state! My son graduated from Owasso and it prepared him quite nicely for college. He's now a junior majoring in Chemical Engineering at OSU with a 3.9 GPA!! Owasso is growing too, there are lots of new restaurants and more shopping too. Owasso is as safe a place as there is in Oklahoma. The community takes alot of pride in it's city and it shows. There are nice new parks and a large sports complex north of town too. I'm not aware of any new restaurants that have closed down. Every one we go to, which BTW we eat out almost every evening, is busy! If any closed down, it wasn't due to not enough business I'm sure.
You can't go wrong with Owasso, it would still be my first choice, especially over south Tulsa and Broken Arrow. And for the person who commented about only one highway, you must have forgotten about highway 75 as an option, especially for those who work downtown or on the west side of Tulsa.

There was an article in the Tulsa World this past weekend that talked about how at least 3 restaurants had closed recently and how the owners of some regretted the location because the amount of people was lower than expected. Owasso is a great town though with great people and some great places to shop.

If by comparison you think Frisco had a plan behind its growth then Owasso must be pretty poorly planned. Frisco grew WAY too fast and has serious infrastructure problems.

Great, a Broken Arrow guy and an Owasso guy. I'm making a househunting trip next week and am having a hard time deciding between those 2 and Bixby or Jenks. All of the houses I've seen online in Owasso have at least a half an acre which is what I'm used to. I don't see much of that in the other 3. But, I've also ehard that I absolutely must live in the Jenks school district. It's tough...I have 3 little ones.

What a coincidence, we just put our house on the market yesterday. We are in a housing addition just 3 miles east of Owasso, all homes are on 1+ acres. It's listed with Fleeta Sunday of Keller Williams realtors. It's 2660 sq ft, one story, 3 car garage, 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, formal dining, formal living, family room. All new carpet, new paint, wood floors refinished, new marble shower in master.
Send me a PM if you want more info or price.
BTW, from an academic standpoint, I'd compare Owasso with Jenks any day of the week!
