List of Tulsa Apartments-Which one is best?
Thanks for everyone's help on our previous questions. It has narrowed down our search to a reasonable area. I have a list of apartments that we are going to look at this weekend. Just wanted to see if anyone had any insight as to these locations, the traffic, the crime rate, etc.
Woodland Park Apartments
7350 S Garnett Rd, Broken Arrow
Lincoln on Memorial
7777 S. Memorial Dr, Tulsa
Riverside Park Apartments
7700 Riverside Drive, Tulsa
The Heights at Battle Creek
1800 W Granger, Broken Arrow
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Off the top of my head, I'd say look at the apts. in Broken Arrow. However, I could be wrong. The apts. on south riverside could be close to Jenks (or in Jenks), which is a nice area. But, I think that just north of Jenks on Riverside Drive is not considered to be a very safe area. I wish Tulsa would do something about their crime problem. It's not nearly as bad as St. Louis or places like that but for a city of its size, it's not something to crow about.

I don't do crime rates. Check the police department web site for that stuff. All the apts you mention are nice. 7350 S Garnett is pretty close to 71st Street which means heavy traffic. You would have pretty easy access to the expressways......shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to go the mile or so in rush hour. Saturday mornings in that area are hard to get around on because of the traffic. Close to shopping, lots of high end chain restaurants and fast food places.....Abuelos, Outback, Logans, Fish Daddy's, IHOP, Village Inn, etc etc etc.....frequently referred to as restaurant row. Union School District
7777 S Memorial. nice place. Heavy traffic morning and evenings. close to shopping on 71st (about a mile south of Tulsa's biggest mall). Close to Paddy's Irish Pub where the food is great, and Guinness and Harps is on tap. Close to IMAX type theaters. Tulsa School District
7700 Riverside. Not too bad an area. About a mile and a half from several section 8/crime areas. Almos across the street from the Creek Nation Casino, around the corner from ORU and Wal-mart. Riverside has pretty heavy traffic in that area due to access to downtown and the Casino. Probably in Jenks School District. Across the street from River Parks.....several miles of bike and jogging trails and easy access to Jenks new upscale shops and restaurants.
1800 W Granger. Very nice area. New golf course in the area. Limited access to arterial roads, but should not have significant rush hour traffic. Not a lot of close infrastructure yet, but not far off the 71st street corridor with all it's shopping and entertainment. Not sure about schools...either BA or Union....both are excellent and as good as you get in Oklahoa.

The Battle Creek apts are really nice and right off the Broken Arrow expressway. There is a lot going up in that area of Broken Arrow. A new 6-story hospital and office building will begin construction soon about a mile away. Plus, the Stone Wood Hills development (Bass Pro, etc...) is all a little more than a mile south and east.
Broken Arrow has the lowest crime rate in the state and one of the lowest in the nation. If you have any other questions about Broken Arrow, let me know.

I know some people who live at Lincoln on Memorial. They are overall not pleased with their apartment. It's not well-insulated...the glass on the balcony door is just one pane. One of their toilets often floods...even when it isn't being used. Lots of cars get broken into, but I think that is because people think a gate community is safe (it ISN'T) and leave valuables out in plain sight. One guy had his gun stolen out of his car. Really dumb to leave a gun in a car, that's for sure. The maintenance guys are very friendly. Nick, I believe he is the head guy, is wonderful. Lots of ducks and geese at the pond, which is nice. The complex itself feels like a giant parking lot though....you'd think that with rent prices that high, they'd have more grass, landscaping, nice areas to walk, etc. Most of the areas where one COULD walk flood easily. If you live here, you want to work North, not South, because making a left turn onto Memorial to get out of there is an exercise in frustration during rush hour (when you'd be going to work and possibly pressed for time). If you live on the ground floor, expect your walls to shake every time your neighbors climb the stairs, especially if they are big, which, let's face it, a lot of Oklahomans are.
I know all of this because for nearly three months, I nannied for a family who lives there, so I was there all day long every day. They had a three bedroom apartment. I thought it was huge. The kitchen is very bright and open with tons of storage. The patio/balcony was quite large as well. (again, this is for the three bedroom) People frequently have problems getting through the gate and it opens and closes so slowly that a lot of people just follow someone else in or even go in the out after someone else just went out. Hmmm...what else...ah yes. The fireplaces are gas, but not all of them can be used when there is no power. The people I nannied for said that the pilot light could NOT be turned off when I mentioned my concern that the baby might burn himself as it was easily accessible and he was certainly interested in the flame. So, if you have small children, that might be a concern for you. Can't think of anything else.
