Student at TCC - need help please
I am taking Political Science 1113 - 320 at TCC Southeast Campus for Fall semester 2008. I need to know if I am ordering the right book. It is called "American Democarcy." The ISBN of the one I am looking at online is
0073103497
It is by Thomas Patterson.
I know that everyone may not agree with me but it really pisses me off that TCC will not post ANY info about their textbooks in the online bookstore except the name and author. They won't even tell you what edition it is or the ISBN number so that those of us who can BARELY afford to go to school can get books cheaper elsewhere or from other students or friends. I will have to go to the bookstore to look in the physical book just to look at the ISBN to see if it's the correct one that I want to order online!!! When I call the store they refuse to give me the info on the phone. I know they are instructed to do so but I will just go in there and look at the number anyway if I want. I mean, if I can't afford it I can't afford it so they may as well save me a drive. If anyone knows if this is the right book and wouldn't mind confirming it please let me know... thank you.

My daughter, a teacher at a local university, bought most of her books on line. I guess you may just have to go to the book store to check it out. Better to be safe than sorry.

For the money that you will probably save you can't afford NOT to go check it out. Good luck.

It's a great program for the great state of Oklahoma.
OP, you have the right idea. I take it for granted that we lived close enough to campus to get the info from the books without being extremely hassled. That sucks they won't tell you the over the phone.
I've found that on amazon your books will be 50-60% cheaper. I'm sure you already know this.
Don't get me started on the textbook racket in U.S schools.
Good luck at TCC!!

Thank you
Thanks for all the posts. Someone else suggested I just talk to the professor and they will specify what book I need without me having to go to the bookstore. I guess I sound super lazy now that I think about it! Was just wondering if someone taking the same class could look at my post and say - yah, that's it - without me going there. Ah, the age of computers...

e-mail the professor
If you really don't want to check out the number in person, ask the prof. I'm a professor in California and I would gladly answer a students book related question before the semester begins (make sure you mention that its a financial issue). You could also simply call the department adm assistant and ask which edition the professor is using for that class. If you know the book title, the author name and the edition, you really can't go wrong. No two books are going to be by the same name, author and edition.
Good luck to you in your studies!

Most profs will email you the syllabus, if you ask. Other than that, you can just look at the book in the bookstore and writing down the info to look up later.
