We are from another state and my husband will be interviewing at a place on E. 61st Street in Tulsa. Can you tell me what kind of area this is in and what would be the nicest area around it to live. We are mostly interested in living near good private schools so the public school system doesn't matter to us. So my husband wouldn't mind driving some (he commutes 45 min now) to live in an area w/ good private schools. We are looking to spend between $350-$450k for a house.
Do most communities have pools/playgrounds or do people join country clubs for that sort of thing?

It would be helpful if you could give out a hundred block of the address.

What do you mean by private schools? Christian or Catholic? That would be helpful too.

I mean any type of private school (where you pay a tuition), it can be Christian faithed or non christian or Catholic. We are open. I was just wondering what are the top ones. Looking online I see all kinds (ie Riverfield Country Day, Holland Hall,Victory Christian) etc

I have heard good thing about those schools. I work in the kitchen at St. Marys. Both of my girls graduated from there. It looks like they have openings in the 4th, 5th and 6th grades only. I don't really know about the pre school. Monte Casino is another Catholic school with a pre school. They probably have a waiting list. Cascia Hall is a Catholic school for children 6th thru 12th. It used to be for boys, but I think it is co-ed now. Bishop Kelly is the diocesan high school that accepts children from all the elementary schools. There are magnet public school too, but I know little about them. Booker T Washington is the high school that is 50% white and 50% black. It is very challanging academically. I think it has the honors of setting the mold for integrated schools for the nation.

That should be around 61st and Memorial. It's a nice area, though you might find pockets of crappy apartments here and there, if you look hard enough In general, the further South you go, the nicer and newer the houses get.

That's one of the only areas in town that will have any traffic - but if you live close to work, even with the traffic in the area, you wouldn't have much of a commute.

The three schools you listed are all very nice, though I don't really know specifics.

IMHO you will want either Casicia Hall which is 6-12 and is located in Midtown Tulsa next to Utica Square my fahter in law went there solid school in all aspects. The second option would be Holland Hall which is in south Tulsa on 81st between sheridan and yale it would be 2 blocks behind where you hubbie is looking to work any of tyhe neighborhoods from 81st south to 121st in that area will fit what your looking for in a home and neighborhood. big plus if you want is Holland Hall is pre-k to 12 grade and area considered Ivy leagure quality. The are though the most expensive school in Tulsa but I would send my kids there in heart beat. If you have any question just ask have school age kids myself.

My son is just in preschool so i'm not worried about upper grades yet. Can someone tell me the best area to live close to where that work address is. Would that be living in Tulsa or Broken Arrow etc? Our price range is $350-$450k

You could live pretty much wherever you want in that price range. If commute time to work is important, then I suggest living in South Tulsa. (61st/Memorial is South Tulsa). South of 101st and West of the Arkansas River is where most of the upper middle class professionals live. There also is an extremely nice gated neighborhood practically across the street from Holland Hall: Holland Lakes. It's north of 81st between Sheridan and Yale.

Pockets of midtown are very, very nice too - Maple Ridge, Sunset Terrace, Terwilliger Heights. Very lovely old homes built in the early 20th century. Cascia Hall is located in this area - off of Utica between 21st - 31st St.
