Moving to Tulsa -- unique ways to spend downtime? (Guthrie: college, outlet mall)

I am a young college graduate moving to Tulsa in two weeks for a job. In short, here's what I am curious about:

1) I have looked extensively on the internet. When I am not working, probably every other weekend, what is a fun thing to do? I have never spent any time in the MW. If I drive 30 mins - 2 hrs. outside of the city, in any direction, what will I find? I am not asking for everything that I will find, but, overall, will I just find open spaces? Is there any sort of space just to park your car and stare at the sky (in the day or night)? If I want to relax in nature, what do you recommend?

Or any other places within 2 hours that are interesting and pleasant? I am not looking for a lot of stimulating entertainment--I prefer something quirky and niche.

Any suggestions?

You'll find the river walk, bike trails, museums, parks. Look on some of the other Tulsa threads, especially the picture thread. There's lots to see and do. If you are over 35, I have a single daughter teaching at TU.

If you're talking about two hours away, you can go see buffalo at Woolaroc, you can see the OKC bombing memorial, POPS 66 soda shop in arcadia, the inland waterway at the port of catoosa, Eskimo Joes in stillwater, etc. Not to mention there are numerous festivals, especially during the summer months. There are tons of places that are scenic or just good to look at. I like going to the reservoir in east tulsa which has a jogging path around it.

2 hours will take you to the mountains albeit small mountains of southeast oklahoma or due east in the ozarks of arkansas

I remember that sure leveled that factory outlet mall there. The parking lot is still there, at least the last time I drove to OKC.

My favorite place to go shopping for activities is travelok.com, the state's department of tourism website.

We've done some of the coolest (or lamest!) things because of this site, but nothing's ever been boring.
