No doubt, the reason why you don't get my point is that you have never before in you life had the hell of trying to see a concert from the the very back row of the upper section (300) of the Ford Center. So count yourself well blessed, indeed.

Oh, yeah, getting to the Ford Center from off I-40 West was no joy either. It took at least 30 minutes to exit.

But I'll give the Ford Center credit about something. I was shocked beyond words because when I arrived to the building there was no line to get in the door. Instead, it was just a steadily moving stream of people entering. Using bar code readers to clear people thru with tickets worked super.

Wrong. I'm 41 years old and have been to large event centers like seeing KISS at the Summit in Houston, Metallica/Faith No More at the Astrodome; I've seen several concerts at the Ford, several at Expo, several at Cains several at the CC. At the Ford and the KISS concert, I was in the 'nose bleed' seats. Same with the Astrodome.

Like I said though, your prerogative. I liked Scott's analogy with the picture of a hamburger

*belch*

And BTW, if you take 235 instead and get off at 6th, you'd spare yourself the heartache of trying to get off I40 at Robinson.

You like DVD, fine..that's one less person I have to worry about at ANY concert I go to.

Well, if I actually go to a concert, I won't be one of the girls or guys in the row behind screaming and yelling their heads off as loud as they can every little bit. One time at an Allan Jackson concert in Tulsa, a bunch of girls screaming and yelling all the time in the row behind me kinda ruined the concert for me. That wasn't money well spent, whatsoever.

The only kind of live concert experience that I can think of that DVD can't beat would be not be in a large Ford type arena but rather some place smaller with a dance floor in front of the stage, so you can dance and be close to the band at the same time.

Cool BOK Eagles concert

I attended the Eagles concert at the BOK in Tulsa. The Eagles put on an excellent concert. However, The Bok Center would receive a grade of C-.
The air conditioning did not cool the arena(also noticed by the band). The lines at the restrooms were rediculous. For the first time in my concert going experience, the line at the mens restroom was three times as long as the womens. I attribute this to poor engineering.
Why is it that Tulsa spent $180,000,000 on an arena and OK City spent half as much and Tulsa ended up with 18,000 seats and OK City has 20,000 seats and Tulsa has no parking unless you wanted to pay $15 and walk 3 or 4 blocks.

The Eagles band management specifically asked for the A/C to be turned off a day in advance and then the management "snuck it back on" during the concert.

The Ford Center, after upgrades, will have actually cost more than the BOK Center. Also, the arena size of the BOK Center is actually larger but they opted for larger seats and larger space between seats. The actual number of seats difference is less than 1,000.

Every parking garage that I saw was charging $5, so I cry BS.

And the band specifically asked for the A/C to be off. The arena Assistant GM even said as much on local news.

Please do a little research. This building makes the Ford Center look like a hay barn. And once the Ford Center makes their taxpayer funded renovations to bring their building up to the same specs the BOK Center is already at, they will have spent a little more.

I like quality over quantity, thank you very much.

Sorry if I'm parroting pretty much everything sgrizzle said, but he speaks the truth. And if you are complaining about walking 3 or 4 blocks for an event, how about going to the ScottTrade Center in St Louis and see how far away you have to park for a sporting event.

I didn't get to go but I parked 3 blocks away from the BOK Center for free. Last concert for the Ford center I parked on the other side of an overpass for $5.

I was in Tulsa around the time the BOK opened, have a friend that works for BOK center. The parking did seem less than adequate. I didn't go to any early events but know a couple of people who did. I wonder what they were thinking?

Did you actually know the location of the arena?

Everytime I've gone the parking has been more than adequate. Many news articles relay this, as well as TV media (of which reports can be found online).

I dispute your assertion. Using a secondhard report is tenuous at best.

I've been to two events with no problems.

This is a response to the above 6 posts, with facts, so people dont get so confused.

okdave- Thats hard to imagine. I believe there would be more restrooms in the BOk than the Ford. I have no idea about the parking, but I do know DT Tulsa has a lot more parking lots than DT OKC. Its nearly impossible to find parking for FC events, unless you know a secret spot, like I do. Also, to give a C- on an iconic design to me is ridiculous even if it were to have some initial problems. I remember the Ford having a lot of problems when it first opened.

sgrizzle- The Ford is actually a larger arena than the BOk with seating and footprint.

Ford Center...
Concerts: 20,817
Basketball: 19,599
Hockey: 18,036
Arena football: 17,868
586,000 s.ft

BOk Center.....
Concerts: 19,199
Basketball: 17,839
Hockey: 17,096
Arena Football: 16,582
565,000 square feet

And no the Ford will not cost as much after the renovations, if we want to get picky. But I will add that construction was cheap during the time it was built, because all I heard were the jokes up in Tulsa about how much it initially cost...Including people from Seattle. Rather pathetic.
After the renovations the FC will be nicer with a different design and hold 500 less people and will increase its footprint to almost 800,000. So maybe OKCers will have the last laugh, but the BOk will always have the better design asthetically speaking and be an Oklahoma icon.

BO- Sorry, but Tulsa isnt perfect. Many need to get off their high horse.
Some Wonder About Parking At The BOK Center - Topix
I have heard that Tulsans were a bit scared about getting back to there cars after the concerts, because of the crime/homeless. Just read the comments by your residents. There is a crime and homeless problem in DT Tulsa. It has been well noted by many locals and I have also seen it for myself with friends and Youtube
YouTube - Tulsa, OK -This is done by a professional news crew. Its something that I am sure will change (especially with all the wonderful improvements that are going to happen), but that is the current reality.

Facts are facts. HT.
