How many PGA, LPGA and USGA tournaments has OKC had recently?

Props to Southern Hills and Tulsa! TU and ORU. Tulsa is the most beautiful city in the SW/Midwest IMO and OKC is all about entertainment (major up and coming city) which includes many sporting events. Both cities are great for families and have their own type of culture.

Golf in OKC/Edmond has hosted many senior PGA championships. The PGA championship at Oak Tree in '89 and the course is also expected to host another major in the coming years.
There are also many great golf courses in OKC/Edmond/Norman, including OKC Golf and CC which is also a design by Perry Maxwell like SHills. Club Information - Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club

But...

Does Tulsa have a NBA team? Host Olympic rowing trials?
Is Tulsa an annual host of the Big 12 Baseball Tournament, the World Cup of Softball, and the annual NCAA Women's College World Series?
Has it hosted the Big 12 Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments? (Which OKC was awarded it again in 2009) and OKC has also held the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournaments.
Has Tulsa been the home to the annual Triple-A Baseball Championship game(since 2006)?
Does Tulsa have a downtown ballpark in place akin to The Brick which is considered the nicest minor league ballpark in the country?
Does it have a decent horse racing venue like Remington Park, which hosts major sporting events in thoroughbred and quarterhorse racing circuits and numerous horse shows and equine events that take place at the state fairgrounds each year?
Does Tulsa have OU football in its backyard? Enough said. OKC is sports country.
Each city has its own unique flavor. If Tulsa could be Paris than OKC would be Rome.

I love both towns and would have my own home in Midtown/Tulsa and Nichols Hills/OKC if I could afford it.

Did the poster ask who was a bigger sports town? No.

The poster asked about Golf. One major 20 years ago is not the same as having an annual LPGA tournament and repeat PGA and USGA tournaments.

As for your other comments, your lack of education on the subject shows. Tulsa hosts many national horse shows at the fairgrounds and has a horse track just like remington park on the fairgrounds that the shows can use. Our arena is just opened and is currently hosting roughly double the events of the Ford Center. We have Conference USA basketball coming and will have Big 12 and NCAA in the future as well. Our ballpark, when built downtown, will be much more extravagant than the Brick at a cost of $60M without a dime from the taxpayers.

OKC has some bragging rights because you're ahead, but Tulsa just kicked in the afterburners.

[mod cut] Unnecessary comment...

Whatever sgrizzle- the thread is titled Tulsa or OKC...I gave compliments to each city. I know what is in store for Tulsa in the future.

OKC is a sports oriented entertainment area and Tulsa is a beautiful city with great museums. I can at least give credit to both cities rightfully.

As for Fairmeadow Downs at the fairgrounds vs. Remington Park..Are you kidding me! Also FCenter not filling events? The NBA is in town.

The BOk is fantastic and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel for major stuff coming soon for Tulsa. But dont be ignorant and deny OKC for what it has accomplished. OKC has done everything you have listed years ago and it keeps on coming. I just bragged about OKC coming up in the sports world, sorry if it sounded aggressive.
Keep those burners real hot...your gonna need 'em.

Yep, coming up in the sports world at the expense of the entire state. Use state money to give tax breaks to an entity who was going to rake it in anyway.

Thanks, but no thanks. I'll keep my dollars local.

Please direct your posts to the OP and their questions , NOT each other.

If you have helpful info to offer fine. If not then refrain from arguing with each other... This will not turn into another OKC vs Tulsa debate.

Thank-you.

I Concur, LadyRobyn. I apologize.

To the OP...Oklahoma in general has many fine golf course communities. In OKC the most impressive communities would be Oklahoma City CC (Nichols Hills), Oak Tree (Edmond)and Gallardia (N.OKC).
Good site...Oklahoma Golf Courses | Public and Private
My personal favorite is off the beaten track called Karsten Creek in Stillwater. The trees are stunning. Welcome to Karsten Creek. Good luck.

Tulsa, Tulsa, TULSAAAAAAAAAAA
I lived there for 10 years. I lived in OKC for 1 year. Tulsa would win out over and over again. I loved it.
