Default Tulsa Mountains & TREES

Greeting All,

We may be relocating from PA (green, forested and hilly) to Tulsa. I've been to OK several times and briefly visited Tulsa but have not spent a lot of time there.

What towns in or around the Tulsa area are near 'nature'? Trees....I need woods!! And hills....I have heard of Turkey Hill?? What are the other hills and woodsy, good-for-an-outdoorsy family areas to live not to far from Tulsa? I've heard of Caloosa?? Anywhere else?

Here is what we need:

- Clean, safe town to raise our little girl.
- Decent schools.
- Not too close but not to far from the city proper (Tulsa).
- An area where one can get a house on 1 or 2 acres.
- WOODS! Hills, nature.

Thanks!!!!!

We like Claremore. Where we live there are a lot of trees and nature. If you like lakes you will like the Claremore area too. Go to your direct messages. I left a direct message for you. Thanks
Cuda

Thank you Howest2008. This web site will be helpful to me I think. Will be traveling OK in early spring, March or April, hoping to do some tent camping in foot hills. Also interested in info on weather conditions that time of year. Any web site suggestions? :-)

Bixby (bedroom community just south of Tulsa) has excellent schools and the area just south of that town is very, very pretty. There's a winery and a lavender farm.

OK has tons of nature to explore -- the Ouchita Mountains are beautiful, and the area in the SE portion of the state around Broken Bow is spectacular.

It's also very close to NW Arkansas, which is breathtaking. Highly recommend hiking in the Ozark National forest and the Buffalo River area.

Ouachita Mountain Outdoor Adventures in Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Doghandler,
If you are a dog person check out this website, www.tulsadogs.com It is the website for the Tulsa Dog Training Club. If you are into dogs there are a bunch of good folks there that can steer you in any direction if it is dog related.
If the Turkey Hill you heard about is Turkey mountain, it's not a place to live. There is a park there that occassionally has some "bad" behavior happening there.
Coweta, Claremore, Keystone, Skiatook all have some wooded, less populated areas.
