Default Energy Jobs In Tulsa

Hey yall,

I am within 7 months of getting my undergrad degree at OU, and its time to dust off the ol' resume and find a job. I had an internship in the Tulsa area, and I just loved it. Unfortunately the company I worked for is having some credit issues and couldn't extend a job offer, but I would really like to go back to that area. I've had 3 internships over college working in the oil and gas industry, with an emphasis on working in land, and I would like to stick to that area. I know that the energy industry in Tulsa is somewhat diminished compared to OKC and Houston, but does anyone know of any oil companies I could look at?

I'm going to take a wild guess that the company you interned with was SemGroup. Of course if I am wrong about that, you might want to put a resume in with them. The other two companies which come to mind are the Williams Companies (Williams) and ONEOK (ONEOK). I am sure there are lots of other energy companies in the area. You might want to check out the Business section of the Tulsa World online for more information on the energey industry in Tulsa (Tulsa World: Energy).

ONEOK, now wouldn't that be the parent company of ONG who refused to open their books a few years ago after the city of Tulsa got a court order to have them do just that? Yea, that's the same ONEOK! I'll never forget the billboard that was on display on I244 coming into downtown that had the URL as:

If you are getting an engineering degree contact Samson Energy and also Cimarex:

Samson - A Premier Exploration And Production Company
Cimarex Energy - XEC - an oil and gas exploration and production company

What is wrong with OU's placement program? My son is a senior at OSU majoring in Chemical Engineering and OSU's placement services has been outstanding! He's had numerous interviews recently and turned down a bunch! Oh well, at least your number 1 in football!!

Disclaimer: I don't have any knowledge of the reputation of any companies I posted. I was simply naming energy companies I know of in Tulsa. The naming of such companies should not be considered an endorsement of said companies. That is all.

Thank you for the replies. FWIW my degree is NOT in engineering, although those are some lucky guys right now. OU has a fantastic career placement service, and I have several interviews lined up with companies, but they are all in Houston and Colorado. I wouldn't mind CO, but I would like to stay in DFW, OKC or Tulsa and am so far having no luck in finding anything there through career services. I really do like these cities, but I'm starting to get into a pretty serious relationship with a girl who absolutely REFUSES to move out of Tulsa. So thats why I'm looking on my own.

In the time I have posted this however, I have snagged 3 interviews, two companies based in OKC and 1 in Tulsa, so I'll let you know how those go

I think I should clarify something as well. I think I'm quite blessed to be in the situation I am. I have several friends who are getting NO interviews at all thanks to the country's economic situation, and I know of at least one person who had an offer rescinded b/c his company (can't say which one but you'll find out soon) is teetering on bankruptcy. So I don't want to come off like a spoiled brat because I couldn't land the EXACT job I wanted while my fellow brotheren are facing a bleak employment future.
