Wow!! I have just listened to some interesting stuff on this thread. I thought Orange County was bad.. People get quite touchy here sometimes. I am an outsider looking to possibly moving to the Tulsa area. I am confused now and with the last comment about the rentals being high I am getting worried. I don't know if Oklahoma and all the culture shock, flatter terrain (more than I am used to) and hot/humid summers along with high rental rates is going to be worth it. And I also recently learned that there are no basements in Tulsa. What a bummer!! We love our basement here in Washington State!! Just how much is a 4-bedroom 3,000 square foot home going to rent for anyway? And I need to be in a good school district. I was thinking of Broken Arrow or Jenks. Another thing... I really don't want to live on a postage stamp... Your honestly would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm sure some of the resident real estate experts that post here can help you out. I've seen a couple or three....

My home is paid for, so I don't have to worry about anything except insurance and property tax.

Oh, and maintenance, and yard upkeep.... :-)

And lack of basements has to do with a) newer construction and b) the cost of trying to cut into limestone OR into the water table to submerge a basement level. Many older homes have basements (the first one I can remember living in at age 4 did) but they are older. On the order of about 80 years or a little older than that. As far as cost of rentals that will fluctuate depending on where you live.
