Default Need advice - asap

Hello!! We are going to be relocating to Tulsa from Texas. My husband just accepted a new job and will begin on December 1st. I will not be able to get a chance to visit the Tulsa area before moving out there. I have found a house to rent but I am worried about the safety of the neighborhood. Does anyone know about the Eagle Creek II subdivision? Its located at East 49th Street Broken Arrow, OK 74014.

From what I can find online, there seems to be a lot of theft in the area? Im not sure though so if anyone is familiar with the area, i would greatly appreciate any feedback.

I have two young children and I will be a stay at home mom so its very important to me that we find a SAFE area to live in. We are only looking to rent right now and unfortunately, we are pressed for time to find a place to move into.

Thank you so much!

I did a little searching online and it looks like this might be the neighborhood you are talking about. Eagle Creek, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma It looks good, but if I were you, I would go to Google Maps and enter the full address of the house. Then select street view so you can really see what the neighborhood looks like. Hope that helps and best of luck!

I just did an appraisal in Eagle Creek, and found the subdivision to be pretty nice. I did NOT see any signs of gang activity, the houses are relatively new (new to 4 yeas old) and selling the the $135-195 range. That is in the Wagner County part of BA so taxes are low, but it is close to the High School, there is a newer elementary in the area, and the whole area is solidly middle class. If I am not mistaken, it was originally a golf course that was turned into a housing development.

You didn't say where in Texas you are moving from, but I would put Eagle Creek's safety against anywhere in either of the metroplex's of Dallas or Houston.

I agree with the original posters. Honestly, I think the biggest issue for that area might be traffic. That neighborhood is one mile north of Broken Arrow Senior High School, so the traffic could be a bit of a bear in the mornings & afternoons, as well as on game nights in the autumn. Granted, it will still be quiet in your neighborhood, but if you're headed towards town or the BA Expressway at those hours, you will see some congestion. However, 99% of that traffic is coming from south of the school in the morning - a time when you'd probably be going the opposite direction (towards the highway), so it might not be a big issue after all.

Thank you for your quick response! Are you familiar with the elementary there by chance? or the high school? All I've heard is that the high school is huge

My son goes to Country Lane elementary which is right near there. No real complaints and he is quite happy and doing great there. His teacher is the best we've had. The only issue I have is the strictness of things. My son had some health issues and was out several times and the school was on my back for specific documentation from his doctor. Also, dismissal and arrival is run like Homeland Security, which is good for the kids' safety and all, but I think its a bit much. I can't help but think if there were previous events that led up to this tight process, but I haven't heard anything.

If they are coming from Dallas or Houston, they will laugh at Tulsa's rush hour traffic. There is no rush hour traffic Tulsa compared to Dallas, Houston, Fort Worth, or Austin, and that's a GOOD thing.

You will not find a safer city in OK than Broken Arrow. It has been ranked Oklahoma's safest city and it in the top 25 in the nation. That area is a good choice for houses and schools!

The high school is large but for me, it never seemed too bad. I thought it was awesome going to a large high school. The elementary schools there are top notch too. Nothing specific led to the security. The events in CO and other parts of the country have led to more security for your children's safety.

There is a lot of commercial development coming soon as well. If you have any other questions about Broken Arrow, let me know. BA is a great place to live and home you enjoy the different areas. Glad you are looking here and hope the move goes well.

my cousin before she got divorced owned a home in that subdivision. it was very nice and the they had the house built new. very quite and suburban, the community was still building out when she was there, not sure if it was finished yet. overall very solid

school wise yes BA is the largest in the state of oklahoma but on par with the large schools in texas. it is a very solid district and has a lot of things to do because of it size academic and extra stuff wise.

not sure where you hubbie will be working but you are roughly a 30 minute commute from DT tulsa. you do have several shopping and entertainment places close by though.

good luck to your family and be positive, upbeat, and willing to join a club or organization and this will make your transition much easier.
