Is Tulsa good for college students?
What is the life like in Tulsa? Is it good for young proffesionals? Is there anything fun to do in the area? What kind of setting does the place have? Ive been there once but I was just driving through on my way to Dallas. Any info would be appreciated.

Is Tulsa good for college students?
Not really.....we expect college students to study and learn, rather than drink, chase women, and get stoned at frat houses.

See my sticky thread entitled " Things to do and places to eat around Tulsa." That should provide you with all of the information you need.

In fact Tulsa is an excellent environment for anyone, not just college students. One of the nice things about Tulsa is that it is NOT focused on college students. We have several colleges and universities in the community, but the economy is driven by commerce, not tuition. If you were in Stillwater or Norman or Tahlequah every thing would be all about the University. All the store clerks in Stillwater wear orange. People in both Stillwater and Norman fly university flags on their porch and on their windows in their car. In Tulsa you see as much Razorback stuff as you do Hurricane stuff.
So if you are looking for a "college town" where the police have a blind eye for greek frats and, like the University of Wisconsin, has a party school reputation, somewhere else might be best. But if you want a community where you can be respected, live a normal life, have lots to do, enjoy arts (opera, ballet, symphony, pop, art, little theater, festivals, craft shows), enjoy "country life" things (worlds largest gun show, horse shows, cattle shows) and being close to outdoor recreation (five lakes within an hour), while getting an education that is second to none in their respective fields, then Tulsa is a great place to go to school.

Tulsa has a lot of stuff. There is a great Arts scene here plus many young people. There are groups like the Tulsa Young Professionals and Broken Arrow has a young professional group as well. Midtown Tulsa has plenty of things to keep you busy and the new BOK Center brings in good shows.

Is Tulsa good for college students? In what way? For academics, then yes. TU is a fine, very small private school but Tulsa is certainly not a "college town". Tulsa is a great place to live and raise a family. I lived in Dallas for 5 years, it was like living in hell! Too much traffic, too much crime, too many rude pushy people everywhere. You couldn't escape from it. Tulsa is 100% better in all aspects! Property taxes in Texas are astronomical as well compared to Tulsa and Oklahoma. Oh, I forgot to mention, you don't have to learn spanish in order to carry on a conversation either, like you have to in Texas!

LOL...ok, to start, I agree that Tulsa is a great place to live. Now, your Dallas comments are silly. Yes, there is a lot of traffic, there are 6.5 million people in the metro. There is crime but i don't think anyone in Tulsa should be casting stones. Pushy people? not any more here than any where else. Your spanish comments sounds kind of racist and it is patently false. Property taxes are high but there is no state income tax. I see this comment all the time and while it would be cheaper to live in Oklahoma in a lot of cases, but there are some instances where it is less expensive to live in Texas.
Now don't get all worked up...like i said at the beginning, I like Tulsa. I think is a beautiful city with one of kind architecture in a very pretty setting.

No offense taken sparkman. I am an Okie that has lived in the DFW metro for 19 years. It's a little too crowded for my taste but all in all Texas has been good to me and I can't complain.
I agree with that last paragraph; Tulsa is a beautiful city with one of a kind architecture and it's in a pretty setting.
