Good place for Baby Shower in Tulsa???
Hello! Only time I've ever written on here is when I was considering moving to Tulsa and everyone was nice to me.. so I thought id try to start reading up on things on here cuz this site seems cool.. AND.. I have a question!!!!
Planning a baby shower in March (so we're running outta time here to find a place and get the invites out!).. Where in Tulsa is a good place to have a baby shower for about 20 guests (family) that isnt outrageously expensive???
We wanted to have it at like a tea house or something where its tea and lunch or whatever but the prices seem too high so far.
I'm still not so great on knowing Tulsa, so anyone who has suggestions on a good restaurant or place in general that is on the lesser end of the money scale would be great
Thanks so much in advance!!!!

Just how much privacy do you need? I think places like Panera Bread Company usually have a meeting room that will accommodate that many people. Sandwiches/Soup/Salads for about $6-$8, good selection of coffee, tea, etc.....lots of pastries....and if you reserve the room (I think it is free) you can let who ever attends buy their own food and beverage.....as little or as much as they want. I think their basic coffees (a medium roast, a dark roast, and a hazelnut flavored coffee) are unlimited and about $1.50. Muffins and pastries are about $2.00...or you can order a party tray of sandwiches for a single flat fee if you want to buy everyone their meal. Google Panera Bread Company....there are several locations in Tulsa and the area.
Larger groups and heavier lunches can be had at Golden Corral, and they have a pretty large meeting room. Several of the Pizza Huts have them too.

I dont know if this would be your cup of tea, but could actually be rather a fun and funky approach to the baby shower thing. How about an area of El Guapos, they have 3 floors and the rooftop area which would be fantastic if its warm enough out. Or Mc Nellies. I have had group meetings in one of their upstairs rooms. They often dont have the upstairs open except on the busiest nights, so you could still be in a neat environment but semi-private as well. The girls can get as drunk and rowdy as they like lol. Joe Mommas Pizza and even the Blue Dome Diner have back rooms that are often used for groups as well. I would try Mc Nellies and El Guapos as well. If you havent been to El Guapos before, they have some neat layouts where they have these looong wooden tables where usually lots of different diners and groups sit and mingle. I bet they would have a table that would suit your whole group.
These are all downtown places and the owners are usually very welcoming to any group that wants to use their spaces. They are always excited to show their places off to future potential customers lol. Also, I really like supporting these new downtown businesses. If we want our downtown to continue to grow and thrive, we need to support them.
Oh, and there is also Lolas at the Bowry. Has a very neat atmosphere. One room has an area with couches and comfortable seating around a coffee table type thing. Is very, trendy/artsy/Spanis tapas. May want to check out the prices on that though. Across the street is Caz's Chow House. They have an upstairs balcony area that overlooks the rest of the restaurant that you could possibly use for your group.

I suppose I thought the exact same thing. Perhaps the OPs house or apartment isn't big enough for the twenty people she plans on inviting or maybe she just wants to get out and have more of a "celebration-on-the-town" type things (like a night on the town, but it's a celebration, lol). To each his or her own! A good analogy is that in New Orleans they have a celebration of the dead and so funerals are a lot like parades.

Some might question whether that's a good analogy...

Heh, maybe you are right as the first is a celebration of life and the other is a celebration of death. All I meant by that was even though there seems to be traditional ways of doing things, others may wish to do something different or at least do the event in a different way.
To the OP: I hope your baby shower goes wonderfully wherever you decide to host it!

My apartment is too small and full of pets HAHA... and the girl who's actually throwing the party didnt seem to want to have it at her house (altho I think Ive hinted enough to her that we might be going that route!) ...
I personally would prefer a house because its a quiet and comfy setting compared to being out somewhere! *shrug*
