The rule of thumb for renting houses in this area is they rent for 75 - 85 cents per square foot. So a 1500 square foot home should rent for around $1275.

Tulsa Apartments for Rent - OK - ApartmentGuide.com
OK, so is the info on the the rental websites outdated? The site above is only one site that's out there. I set it at 700 per month and 140 apartments showed up. I do realize that some of them may not be that nice or in the safest areas, but they're spread out all over so either it's outdated info or you may just have to look around more.
As far as houses~yea, they look very expensive.

Apart. renting help
I will move to Tulsa from FL, and I've read the www.apartmentratings.com. There seem to be a lot of problems with roaches, break-ins and loud neighbors.
I know many reviews can be exaggerated, but I'm still uneasy.
Can somebody give me some concrete advice where can I find an apt. to rent without roaches, break-ins or loud neighbors? I would really appreciate it.
Ideally, the apt/complex should be within 20-25 min driving distance of Hillcrest; I'll be working there and I take call, so I have to be relatively close.
One with good reviews seems to be Renaissance Uptown, but the traffic noise it's a deal breaker, since I'll be working some nights.
I'm flexible: I can rent from a private individual or complex - as long as it's decent.
THANK YOU !!

I think the notion that Tulsa has cheap real estate is a myth. The pool of affordable houses in safe neighborhoods with good schools is actually pretty small. (We are quite possibly transferring to the Ft Worth, TX area, and I am pleasantly surprised at how far my housing dollar will go there.)
As for rentals -- $750 for a 3 brm house is on the low end of the spectrum. A friend who owns several rental properties charges that much for a property she owns at 21st and Sheridan (a not great but not awful part of town). My DS pays nearly $900 for his 2 BRM apt in a nice part of south Tulsa.
Have you tried Houses and Condos for Rent in Tulsa and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Vicki Berg Property Management Inc. Also try McGraw Realtors, McGraw Realtors, Tulsa, Oklahoma - they have a lot of listings, although quite a few specify no pets.
Apartments: Renaissance Uptown very nice, but that is indeed a busier part of town. (That kinda comes with apt. living, doesn't it?) Vintage on Yale very nice complex, nice part of town, near a Borders and a grocery store, on a hill (good views) and Yale Dr. isn't quite a busy as Memorial Dr.
Good luck!

There are several houses in my neighborhood, 3bed around 1900sq ft and they rent for about $1200. Good schools, pretty safe, and right next to the largest shopping area in the city. I purchased my house for about $60/sqft

We ended up renting a small 2 bd 2 bth apartment almost in Jenks. The Union school area. Nice area but we wish we could have rented a house. Just can't afford the high rents. But I wasn't willing to put my child in a dangerous part of the city either.

Brookside- I lived in Texas and and homes are not bad, but prop. taxes are thru the roof. Get ready for a shock! Texas also has emission car inspections along with safety inspections.

Tulsa rents are low compaired to Omaha rents. The "cheap" good apartment in Omaha cannot be had for under $600.00
