Actually Owasso just in Tulsa county is over 26K in population, this isn't counting those of us who live in Delaware county just on the outskirts of owasso with an owasso address. Including those areas the population is well over 35K. Towards the end of '07 Owasso was the fastest growing city in Oklahoma and I don't think it's slowed much.

Are you sure it's Delaware County? Owasso extends into Rogers County, but Delaware is 50 miles east of Owasso.........I think you are thinking of the area around Grand Lake........THAT is Delaware County......

My friend, I am going to be quite blunt and perhaps wrankle a few feathers with some other posters. Nothing I am about to say is without exception and admittedly a good bit of bias. I am also going to exagerate, in order to draw home the point. So take those as fair warnings.
If one were to characterize a few of the subtle differences between Tulsas suburbs, one could say....
Broken Arrow: is the largest and most diverse. It would fit probably anyones usual ideas of the typical Midwestern American suburb. Its your middle of the road, everyday suburb. Some old parts, lots of new parts, some wealthier new parts, lots of middle class and working class new neighborhoods etc. Quite a range of people there. Its older parts and neighborhoods can be a bit iffy. But there again, its an older bigger suburb that caught the big suburban growth thing earlier and more than the other main suburbs. Things which evoke the cities characteristics... Target, Wal-Mart, Bass Pro, .
Jenks: small suburb by the river across from Tulsas new Mc Mansion territory. Lots of major new developments going in. Seems to be heading down a development path which is little more compact, pedestrian friendly and dense than BA. Definitely has some VERY nice high end neighborhoods along with lots of middle and upper middle class neighborhoods. And sushi lol. People love going to the Riverwalk, seem to be a bit more health conscious, etc. Once the new River District, Main Street, and second phase of the Riverwalk go in. I think Jenks will definitely start to cater to more younger, YP, yuppy, urban types as well. Giving Tulsa and its downtown/mid-town a serious run for the money. Things which evoke the cities characteristics.... Riverwalk Crossing, antique stores on main, future high end shopping and retail.
Owasso: Slides more to the bible belt, country "Garth Brooks lives there I think" side of things. Its motto is "A City of Character" and they have signs up that quote moral sayings and such to help teach that character. (Meanwhile their drunk cheerleaders seem to have a problem with a certain fountain in our downtown "the sinful, evil big city" that they cant seem to manage not to run into with their cars. lol) . I went to the Chilis there a while back. While waiting for a table during the lunch rush. I and my assistant just looked at each other with the same thought as we watched all the people go in and out... a good, I kid you not, 75% of them were way over weight. I tried to order something kind of healthy, the Chicken Ceasar Salad. Usually on such a salad the dressing is barely there as it should be. You could have eaten the salad I got with a ladle lol. There was more dressing than chicken or salad lol. Its difficult to find good, healthy, light, food in Owasso. If you find a place, go for it. Things that evoke this cities characteristics.... Wal-Mart, Churches, white wooden fences, heavy duty trucks.
All of Tulsas suburbs are a little more conservative/christian than say Tulsas mid-town area. But Owasso... is kind of Children of the Corn scary when a city boy like me ventures there lol. But, if thats your thing, it will be heaven for ya. Different strokes for different folks. Tulsa and its different suburbs offer up a variety of different lifestyle and living options.

I was addicted to Thai food. Moved to Owasso. Heard good things about Tavin's Thai BBQ in owasso. Not great, though. Not sure of the good Thai restaurants in tulsa either, if there are any. Asian restaurants is definitely a downside to owasso.

Getting a little off topic on this thread, but, if you like mongolian bbq and if you like it hot, like I do, go to The Great Wall at 71st and Yale in the SE corner of that intersection. It's awesome!

I've become addicted to Thai food as well. There is a plethora of genuinely great Thai food restaurants in the area near where I live.

TulsaArtist - Your take on Owasso is pretty much right on the money. I always get a kick out of those "character council" banners which you are required to read upon driving in from any direction. I thought I would like to sit in on a character council committee meeting sometime. Owasso is the most "Stepford" like town you may ever visit, and it has been that way for a long time. That said, it does have some pretty, quality housing built in some rather pretty areas.
