Lightbulb Martial arts in Tulsa

Hi,

Going to be moving to Tulsa this summer. Does anyone have any experience with martial arts gyms in the area? I'm open to pretty much anything, e.g. judo/jiu-jitsu, karate, tae kwon do, jeet kune do, or whatever; as long as it's a reputable school that emphasizes fun and practicality. I don't want a place that waters down their art for the sake of selling extra belts to soccer moms and little kids. Those kinds of places are fine for the uh, soccer mom and kid crowd, but I want a more professional instructor and school. Doesn't have to be 'hardcore' or MMA; just a school that takes its craft seriously.

Any advice, stories, or experiences would be appreciated!

Not sure how familiar you are with Dale "Apollo" Cook, but he's a Tulsa native and has a dojo here.

I've done some hunting on other message boards; Apollo's Karate and Adams Muay Thai (kickboxing) seem to both be highly recommended.

Thanks for the replies!

In Muskogee we have DragonFly Dojo and although they have a "Junior Dragons" class for little kids and soccer moms. They also have an older teen and adult class that is much more serious and moves alot faster. For all ages Master Cruz stresses the school Creed of Courtesy, Humility, Integrity, and Self-Control. Our daughters have attended classes there for almost 5 years and I think it is a great school. After students progress to a certain point, if they want more in depth classes Master Cruz refers them to Apollo's especially if they want to pursue more fighting skills.
