Job Market in Tulsa, Ok
My husband and I are looking into moving to Tulsa. We do not have a college degree, so I am just wondering what is the job market like in Tulsa? Right now I work at one of the biggest promotional products company and my husband works for a processed chicken plant--kind of like Tysons. Are the jobs relativly easy to find or would we be job hunting for awhile? How about the renting market? What is the biggest employer in the Tulsa area? I just kind of want an idea from and native Tulsan to recommend something to us. Something decent with decent wage. We have awhile before we are going to move but ideas right now would be WONDEFUL in the long run! Thanks!

Go to the website below and do a search on your preferred job. I couldn't tell you who the largest employer is in Tulsa but I think the economy in Oklahoma is better of than most of the country.
Job Search | one search. all jobs. Indeed
Good luck!

I didn't plug in any specific terms, but just put in Tulsa, Ok and came up with the following.

The largest private employer in Oklahoma is American Airlines. They have a maintenance facility in Tulsa.
You will find a lot of call centers, including debt collection agencies, retail, and restaurant work. There is probably not much factory work. The cost of living is not high -- but employers tend to pay a lot less.
You might consider looking at some of the smaller cities in Oklahoma. Bartlesville, Ada, Talequah and Claremore come to mind. Some smaller cities will have a couple of employers that shore up the local economy and offer more employment opportunities than generally available in smaller cities.

Tulsa's Sunday newspaper has alot of job listings, however two years ago Tulsa was booming with jobs. Many temp agencys are around Tulsa. Today things have got more tight. It's still about the best place to find a job today. You can read Tulsa's job listings on-line too. Oklahoma's job market beats the job market in Michigan for sure. What I did when I moved to Tulsa was grab any job on 2nd shift just to have a income then I took my time during the day to find a better job. You'll like Tulsa!

I don't care what kind of sunshine the mags are selling, work is hard to come by in Oklahoma, and if you don't want to go on Social Security or make meth right away, you might just want to stay where you are.
