I don't know how such a once booming city like Charlette NC with unemployment rates always around the 3.5% mark came to be so bad with unemployment over 10% today? It was always rated well as a place to live by "Money Mag" and other such city rating publications. The economy went for a nose dive big time, while Tulsa more or less just plugs along at a steady rate. I don't like the motor vehicle safety inspections that the state of NC has I find them to be a rip off.

When you have major booms, you risk major busts.

That's true, but Charlotte does have many mixed industries not just one or two like what Detroit, Michigan has. Charlotte has a good mixture of indusrties and companies if one goes on the skids there are other companies to take up the slack. Charlotte has alot of banking/insurance and white collar jobs and a good deal of blue collor factory/warehouse type of work, you'd think they would be recession proof... Tulsa is a bit too heavy on the oil industry & oil related products. Tulsa needs to spead out into other industries. INO

Yep, just like you do on the other forum, a little misinformed.

You do know that American Airlines is the largest employer in the city, right? Citgo has been gone for four years. Oxy? Gone.

So while there is somewhat of an oil presence, Tulsa is more diversified then you give it credit for.

Of course if you lived here you'd know that.

But there's something else that I should add to the Mix..Tulsa is a "Compact City" 188 Square Miles and Charlotte isn't at about 400 sq miles......
Tulsa and Charlotte both have very impressive Skylines and are"Easy On The "Eye's" , as far as Looking At The Two "Cities" you can drive to beaches surrounding the many lakes in Tulsa or drive a hour or two to the beaches on the North Carolina Coast or even drive down into South Carolina. Tulsa Universities are higher ranked..Tulsa University and Oral Roberts (than the Universities) in Charlotte......and Booker T. Washington High School is Ranked as The 65Th Best High School In America In Tulsa.Tulsa has two Museums That Are Highly Ranked Philbrooks and Gilcreases and a World Ranked "Ballet"....PollStar Has Awarded The BOK Center (Arena) The BEST NEW CONCERT VENUE 2009......
