There is a reason they call this place "Green Country."

Please forgive me if I offended anyone about the hicksville statement. I truly do not know anything about Oklahoma except that the people are very nice. I lived in a very small town in Oregon for four years and it was very hicksville. There was nothing to do and there was only a Walmart in town!! Woopee!! I had to drive an hour to get to Portland and it was a bummer. I just don't want to live like that again and with two active boys it isn't a fun situation. Thank you everyone for your nice comments and answers to my questions. By the way, I loved the catfish picture!!

Tulsa is at the western edge of the ozarks, the further east you go into Arkansas and Missouri you will see similar terrain like your pic. But Tulsa or it's suburbs won't be as impressive as what you are coming from as far as mountains. We do have a lot of trees and are fairly hilly, but not like what the ozarks have.

This is probably as close as you can get to that area in Oklahoma. Beautiful scenery. It is a nice round trip drive in one day.

You will know you are in Hicksville when you can hear the Banjos. I don't know where I heard that but when we were looking for our new home in Beggs/Mounds area South of Tulsa, we would get off the main drag looking at houses and my daughter would say... "Mom, I am hearing Banjos..." Time to get back on the main road hahahaha.

Broken Arrow is a great community and transportation network provides easy access to all Tulsa area hospitals. The high school is large but I graduated from there and it never seemed overwhelming. There are over 4,000 high school students but that is NOT at one campus. There are only a little over 2,000 at the Senior High campus. Broken Arrow is a growing community that serves the needs of families very well.
