Wow brian, that's a BIG fish. It looks like you're living "the life." By that I mean you are enjoying yourself, which is great.

Brian, previously, were you only living in Grove during the summer months? I know you were selling your house in Tulsa so are you making a permanent move to Grove? It looks like you're definitely enjoying yourself there.

I live on Grand full time now. On the south end at the mouth of Duck Creek. Our house in Owasso is up for sale, hopefully we can get it sold soon. Living on the lake is definitely awesome!

Raelyn, if your kids are crazy about football, then you need to check out the two top school districts in the state, Union and Jenks. Between them they have won the state 6A football championship for the last 10 years.
Both districts are in south Tulsa. The Union district is comprised of south and east Tulsa, and also part of Broken Arrow. Jenks school district is made up of the small community of Jenks plus parts of south Tulsa.
Both districts are very well funded, with excellent superintendents, good bond scores, good funding, and rate *very high* academically.
If you want to check out houses, zip codes for Jenks school district include 74137 and 74037. Zip codes for Union include 74133, 74012 (there are more, but these are probably the best areas). Both are an easy commute to the hospitals.
You will probably hear from others that these are "snob" schools, but that's not necessarily true. Lots of financially well-off people do live in these districts, but the districts are actually pretty diverse.
Good luck to you and your family!

Yeah, thank you to all you nice folks in Oklahoma!!
I am REALLY looking forward in the possibility of moving there. You guys sound so nice and Brian is just the sweetest thing. How cute he is with his fish.. He is having fun and that is great. At least he isn't sitting around complaining about everything under the sun.
I have done much research and those two schools seem like good choices for us. I am kind of worried about the cost of rentals though. I have seen on some of these posts that rentals are high. We will need a 4-bedroom with about 2500 to 3000 sq feet. The home that we are selling here is 3600 sq ft. and I don't want to have to sell anything. We are leaving behind our pool table. We won't be buying a home for awhile but I would like to start the school year off in the district that my boys will graduate in. They have changed schools way too much so stability is important for us. A pool would be a nice treat. We have lived by neighbors that have a pool for 3-years and it is so hard to see them having so much fun. A pool would be wonderful.
Anyway, Brian what does your house look like?? LOL.. I am not sure about Owasso.

okay first off i was born and raised here in oklahoma, and all i have wanted to do for the last 10 years is [mod cut] post without the profanity please [/mod cut] Not to be too harsh but i am 26 and my sister in law is 27 and everyone you have been talking to are old and set in their ways and most of which have retired and moved here! And yeeeees your kids will think its hicksville! Because it is, trust us we have traveled, and people here are closeminded and judgemental unlike other places we have visited. And the kids are the worst! Teens here are not open to new people and has anyone told you about our ridiculous drug problem, my sister in laws husband is a police officer, so we are know what we are talking about! Im not saying there isnt a good place to live in oklahoma...we just havent found it yet and trust us we are looking! We live 60mins from the metro area and its nothing like these people are talking about! So when we were reading these post that were misleading you, we knew we had to say something![/color][/b]

I've lived in WA and the northeast and have lived in OK for the last year. Owasso is the place. The housing in BA looks nice but the neighborhoods with the houses you are looking at are too close together. Owasso gives you more space. I am in my low 30's and am in a medical field as well.

Wow!! I am saddened by the excitement to find it was all a delusion!!
I guess as with any city there is good and bad. But the total conflict of information leaves me scratching my head and wondering now what to do. We may have little or no choice of whether we move to Tulsa or not. It isn't like we have won the lottery and we can choose anywhere that we want to live.
With that in mind, I hope and pray that if we do move there we can find a decent spot especially for the sake of our children. I certainly do not want to move a High School student to an area where he will be snubbed, ignored and bullied. That is a very troubling and sad thought to me. I am a mother who loves her boys dearly. This move will be hard enough for him already without the added problem of fitting in.
Please anyone... tell me like it is!! For those of you who have children please ask them if the newbies get shut-out or ignored. They would be the ones who would know. Or if you just moved there within the last few years and have kids...do they like it there? And where are you?? Do your kids participate in sports?? How do they do in sports?
And please give me the best place where being left out won't take place or else a place where it will be minimal. Like I said... we may have no choice...
Wow, I am sad right now but I thank you to all who have shared their experiences good or bad... Maybe Brian loves Tulsa because he sits on the Lake and fishes all day and doesn't have kids.
