I've never heard of most of those on the line up but everyone knows Cake and The Black Crowes (only reason why I would go). I'll be at the Nine Inch Nails/ Janes Addiction concert tonight (so glad JA got back together...but for how long LOL).
Trust me, if you go, DO NOT MISS Jonathan Tyler And The Northern Lights. One of the best stage presence and performers I have ever seen, they are unbelievable!!! We met the entire band (and Mo) at Cains a while back, super cool people!! They are playing SXSW, Wakarusa, and ACL this year, along with Dfest of course.
Jaimmie,
I just wanted to say that you did a splendid job of describing Tulsa, you should write for a paper somewhere! You forgot to mention that the airport is there, easy access and it's a small airport compared to some but it handles rental cars and many flights.
I also was listening to the radio the other day and they said that there are miles of bike trails, that biking is becoming one of the big things in Tulsa, they even have events. People also come from towns as far as 1 1/2 hours to go to the restaurants and for the Night life. I am one of them! You really described it well and I wanted to thank you~~.

This is something that my son would probably be familiar with although I probably wouldn't let him go alone. Concerts like this can get pretty wild. We like the Christian concerts and I pretty much stick to the older classical rock bands like Boston, Kansas, Bad Company, etc. I know, you are probably thinking I am old.. I just don't care too much for the new music of the day. Not too profound on the lyrics anymore. But thanks for sharing. That must be a HUGE event! There are so many bands playing!!
oh wow - if you guys are into christian music, you will have no trouble fitting in here in Tulsa! Hobby Lobby plays it nonstop, and all the name christian bands play concerts regularly at the ORU events center.
As for classic rock -- let's see -- within the last year the BOK center has hosted the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC and Bruce Springsteen. Check out the Cain's Ballroom too.
Raelynn, keep your eyes open for the entertainment at the Tulsa fair. I believe Foreigner was there last year. The motel we stayed at had a nearby bar and they had rock n roll bands there. We didn't go cause they didn't start until 9 pm, but they've got them.
Funny thing, I thought hospitality was what we Midwesterners have and I'm sure that's why it's so prevalent in Tulsa. I'm not into rudeness masked with fake manners and I didn't feel that in Tulsa at all. I guess we just don't have to keep reminding people what wonderful manners we have cause it just always shows.
We started conversations with many people and although you could tell that an occasional word was pronounced differently, they don't speak any different then I do and trust me, I'm not southern and I never will be.
AND some of the casinos~I've noticed that some of the same bands that play up here also make stops at some of the casinos in OK. Journey is coming to our area in July and will be down there just before that. I follow the concerts of several good old groups and they hit the OK casinos often.
And Yella, thank you for the compliment. It's undeserved, but it lifts my spirits and I thank you for that.

I'm from KCK and Tulsa is midwestern to me! Has been for 37 years. I don't like country music either.
That's great, totally fine with me!
It's just that most folks that are born&bread Okies do not consider themselves to be "Midwestern." It appears to be more prevalent among transplants/and folks visiting here.
Either way, each to his/her own.
Blessings.
