Here's a punch line for you then. 2006-2007 ACT scores:
Tulsa public schools average = 18.7
Wichita public schools average = 20.6

Wichita has 48,000 students of which 48% are caucasian, 22% hispanic,
23% african-american & 7% are asian. 60% qualify for free or reduced price meals. Graduation rate =75%
Tulsa has 41,000 students of which 68% are caucasian, 12% hispanic, 15% african american, 2% asian, % 3% native american. 78% qualify
for free or reduced lunches. Graduation rate =50%

So apparently, Wichita is doing a better job of educating their kids.

Great for Witchita. Other than that the city sucks. Also the private schools in Tulsa are far better.

Agreed on both counts. Why anyone would voluntarily move there I can't see. If you're born there and raised there, that's fine. Some would say the same about Tulsa; that's their prerogative.

I wasn't aware of the excellences and strength of Wichita Public
School System , Wichita seem to be pretty solid thur and thur , how-
ever Tulsa Has A Very Elite Nationally Ranked Public Magnet School
Booker T. Washington High School which is one of America Best School
What I like about American cities is that they all have strong
points and you can't totally write off any one city....Wichita Kansas
you are doing a great "Job" with your public school system....

You guys, I have to laugh at this. The OKC people and the Tulsa people often have such disputes between themselves as to which city is better. But don't let an outside city jump in there cause people from both cities would defend the other one to the end.

Wichita has the only magnet high school in Kansas. Also there are 3 large private high schools in Wichita (Mt. Karmel, Bishop Carroll, and Wichita Collegiate). Kudos to Booker T. and Holland Hall: excellent schools. That said, BTW hasn't made it to the finals in Quiz Bowl (NAQT) since 2003. Holland Hall did so in 2005. So when you say one of America's best schools, it has to be in the context of the entire country There are a lot of superb high schools out there. So are we talking about top 1000, top 100? In any case, the average student will get a better shake in Wichita.

Maybe so, if you could stand to live there...
