7-11 had stores in the Tulsa area until 1987, then Circle K bought the entire lot of them. Until that time, 7-11 had a franchise office in Tulsa that was referred to as MAKO (Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma). The reason I know this is my ex-wife worked for 7-11 and then for Circle K after the sale.

This isn't correct. 7-11 stores in Oklahoma City aren't owned by the 7-11 parent company, they are a single large franchise. The Brown family of Oklahoma City that owns those stores and the Cadieux family that own Quik Trip agreed not to enter each other's markets. 7-11 used to have a store in Sapulpa and other surrounding towns, but not in Tulsa. The stores that became Circle-K and later Staxxx before closing were U-Tote-M stores, not 7-11 stores.
Also, about Saks, there is a Saks in Tulsa, and no Atwoods stores in the city itself, so what are you talking about there?

What I stated is correct. I did not say the main company of 7-11 owned the OKC stores that are owned by the Browns. There were 7-11 stores in Tulsa in the 80's that were owned by the franchise operator, MAKO, that I described. Also as I stated, my wife at the time was employed by 7-11 aka MAKO before becoming a Circle K employee.
Also as I stated, I personally heard Chester Cadieux state that he has a gentleman's agreement with the owner of Love's. Although Chester has retired, I still see him from time to time. I'll ask him if he has also entered into a gentlemen's agreement with the Mr. Brown. Once I find out either way, I will post.

The stores in Tulsa that Circle K bought were U-Tote-M stores, not 7-11. U-Tote-M was Tulsa’s third convenience store chain after QT and Git-n-go (now Kum and Go) for years, they were all over town. I can’t recall a single 7-11 in the city of Tulsa in the 80s or ever since. There was a 7-11 in Sapulpa, but that’s long since gone. If there was a store in Tulsa, tell me where it was.
This link shows a timeline for Circle K, noted in 1983 is when Circle K bought U-Tote-M (which is when Circle K entered the Tulsa market), there is no mention of the purchase of a bunch of 7-11 stores in 1987.

The agreement not to enter each others markets isn’t with Love’s, it’s with the Oklahoma City 7-11s. Love’s doesn’t even make sense, Love’s stores are mostly rural and ex-urban (crappy) truck stops while Quik Trip stores are almost entirely urban and suburban convenience stores. Love’s only has 5 stores in Oklahoma City as compared to QTs 65 stores in Tulsa. QT is going to agree to stay out of Oklahoma City and not open 70-80 stores there to keep Loves from opening 3 or 4 stores in Tulsa? That makes no sense.
And as a matter of fact, Quik Trip and Loves do have stores in the same markets. I can think of two markets at least in Phoenix and DFW that have both Love’s and Quik Trip. The family that owns 7-11 also owns the rights to 7-11 in Tulsa, that’s why there are no QTs in OKC and no 7-11s in Tulsa.

While I appreciate your research, what I have stated with you is first-hand information on both counts.
While Circle K appears to have bought U-Totem in 1983, the purchase of the 7-11 franchise operations in the Tulsa area happened several years later. My wife worked at a location between Peoria and Lewis, by I-44, and the MAKO office was located next door (as was a Braum's which eventually became Steak Stuffers). My wife also worked at 71st and Lewis that was a 7-11 location. For a brief time after Circle K made the purchase, there were two Circle Ks on the corner of 71st and Lewis in operation. I do not understand why you continue to dispute something that I actually lived.
Regarding the agreement with Love's, this would have occurred many years ago....well before QT ever moved into PHX or DFW. There may be Love's around KC, STL and ATL, as well. Whether it makes sense, or not, I heard Chester say it. I do not recall a Love's being in the vicinity of Tulsa. Also, at some time in the past, I think (but not positive) that Love's also had convenience stores at one time (late 70's and early 80's).
I agree that the 7-11 agreement would make more sense and I will ask Chester about that when I see him again. I would trust Chester's recollection over other sources - the man is still very sharp and could still head-up QT today.
