Personally, I thought that was a bit cruel with the timing and all.

Sorry that I didn't see your post sooner and reply. I'm more of a weekend Okie.
Yeah that sound cruel in the case of your cousin , i wonder if any
communication what envolved in the break up , in my case I been in
the relationship for the last 20 some odd years for the kids , and i
communicate well with my spouse....she have given me a million
reasons to leave , but was able to hold on to me because she
didn't want to call it quits on the relationship....however I'm
getting too old and have sacraficed enuff....I have to be able
to replace her and time is running out....rapidly....

In the 30's OKC was a vibrant downtown and was very similar to Dallas by having some of the tallest skyscrapers west of the Mississippi.

One of many beautiful buildings destoyed during the urban renewal in the 60's
OKLAHOMA CITY was pretty much like DES MOINES Iowa it
photograghed real good , but if you see it in person , it doesn't
have that same vibe.....because the building wasn't really that
tall....

Okay. lol. Des Moines tallest in the 30's was 96.93 m. Do your research.

I will say that Des Moines currently has a very impressive skyline for its size.

OKC in 2012....

Default A Positive Comparison Made On SkyScraperForum.Com About OKC And Tulsa

This is a Cut And Paste From Skyscraperpage.com
Made By howest2008 And HotRod....

I think that "crown" only applieD to tallest building. Otherwise, OKC has always reigned over Oklahoma!

And will continue, even more quickly in the near future outpace Tulsa (becoming more of a Philly to Pittsburg analogy - both cities nice with lots going for them, but Philly is at a different level than Pitts; I see OKC going in that direction, quickly).

Someone who was born in Oklahoma and who has lived in California for at lease 30 or more years 'let' me"Clime' in on this discussion.

As a African American Tulsan we alway addressed Oklahoma City as the "CITY" supporting your point that Oklahoma City is larger than Tulsa ,
but never considered it as a city that dominated Tulsa...because Tulsa was
the 'Peacock"... , and Oklahoma City was the 'Ugly Duckling' that turned
into a "Swan"...Tulsa had all of the "World Class Venues" Philbrook Museum
and Gilcrease Museum....and the Topography of Tulsa Mountains..which were
really the tall hills in the Tulsa Metro Area..more "Beautiful "Lakes" than you
could shake a stick at and the "Arkansas River Park" and was Known as the
"Oil Capital Of The World" and the "Cleaniest City In American".

The 'Ugly Duckling" voted in the "MAPS" (Urban Renewal Project) in the 1990"S
at which time Oklahoma City became the "Beautiful White Swan" and Trumped
Tulsa the "Peacock"...Tulsa was created by "Rich Oil Barons' that gave it "Art
Deco" and "Skyscrapers Galore" ..."Philbrook and Gilcrease Museum" and all the
other "Whistlers and Bells"..that Tulsa enjoyed from being the 'Oil Capital Of
The World.

Philly is larger than Pittsburgh PA and has more output , but Pittsburgh has
a greater "Reputation" than Philly in the "Eye's" of most American and maybe
Tulsa will follow in it's footsteps 'Who's Knows"....

My Auntie and Uncle and Cousins live in Midwest City Oklahoma and when I was in Oklahoma on my vacation in 2000 and saw "The Bricktown Canal" I almost (Cried) I couldn't beleive that Oklahoma Built Something So Classy.
Then Oklahoma got the "New Orleans Oklahoma City Hornest" and I puffed
out my chest a little bit farther , then OKC got the Thunder and became a
Second Tier American City.

When The Devon Project Is Built I Might Almost Cry Again.....and I'm pulling
for Oklahoma City and I'm proud of Okalhoma City and Praying For It's Success
, but Tulsa will alway be My Best Loved City in Oklahoma if not the Greatest
and Pittsburgh PA will alway be the Majority Of American Most Loved City
if Not The So Called Number One City In PA.

fenderacoustic is on a distinguished road
This is an interesting topic to me as I will likely be looking to relocate within the state. I am also looking at other cities all around but since I am an Oklahoma state employee it is attractive to me as far as retirement and benefits to stay within the state. Specifically I am concerned with outdoor activities and weather. Also schools. My family and I love to be outside. A nice house in the suburbs with some land and close to the water would be ideal. Just looking at google maps, Sand Springs looks good. Not sure about their schools though. Jenks, Broken Arrow, and Claremore schools are well known.

I will continue searching on here and will be monitoring this thread; but, my general impression is that OKC has more to do (not that there's nothing to do in Tulsa) and everthing in OKC is just a tad bit bigger and better. Sports, Zoo, Etc. Where Tulsa pulls ahead is lakes and trees and hills being further East. Both of these cities really appeal to me. OKC is a little closer to my family and we have lots of friends there already. Although my sister-in-law and her husband are moving to Tulsa now. So ether way we will already know people which is a plus.

I live in Lawton now BTW and sorry for the long post.

Love Bricktown in OKC. Makers Cigar and Piano Lounge is one of my favorite places anywhere. Also like the idea of going to an NBA game. I don't even particularly like the NBA but it would be fun to go to a game and support the home team.
