Does Famous Ex-Tulsan Deserve A Urban Tribute In Tulsa Such As A Freeway Or Street Named After Them
I wonder what the people of Tulsa Oklahoma think about naming
streets or freeways after some of the famous Tulsan that are
maybe unknown on a local level such as see below.......
(A) Alfre Woodard a prize and award winning Female African American
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfre_Woodard
(B) Garth Brooks a country and western super star

(C) Will Rogers a Giant from the Tulsa Metro Area of the earily 20Th Century........

I think so. Don't know who would be more deserving. Will Rogers certainly deserves a tribute such as a street or something. He was a great American.

The Will Rogers Turnpike in the Cherokee Nation should be sufficient.
So far as naming streets after famous Okies......there aren't enough streets in Tulsa to do that and not leave someone important out..........

He was a Congressman for Oklahoma Howest; the district in which Tulsa resides. He was an All-American at the University of Tulsa and is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

She is a Tony-award winning Broadway star who originated the role of Glinda in "Wicked." She also currently stars in "Pushing Daisies" -- a quirky TV show that *might* have been canceled ... but still.
She was in Tulsa last moth promoting her memoir, "A Little Bit Wicked."
