Home game attendance for the Southland's two professional football teams is running more than 25 percent below the National Football League average this season, spurring talk once again that one or both of the teams may move.

Officials at the two teams, which are both owned by private investors and, therefore, are not required to reveal financial data, would not comment on speculation that the franchises are struggling financially.

...no I am not joking redbird.... It has been years now and still no NFL team in a city the size and magnitude of LA.. Go figure??? Anyway, we are really getting off topic here..

I guess I needed to vent the other night after almost getting hit.. I was very upset that night. There just needs to be some awareness on the part of these drivers that think they are in race cars. My gosh... isn't there drag racing somewhere here in this part of the country? I think I noticed something on my way to Owasso. They should invest in a stock car and race if they want to drive the way they drive.. Insane and I am worried about getting my fifteen year old his driving license. Yikes....

Other than the driving.. there are things that I like about this area.. The food is fantastic and the people are very friendly when they are out of their car LOL... just joking everyone. I hope you all have a good sense of humor and you aren't looking for my plates somewhere... Anyway, have a nice weekend. We will probably stay away from the crowds and watch the Union game on TV... We tried to get tickets but they were sold out. I wasn't aware of High School games being sold out.. Wow, what fan support...Nice!!!
I moved here from NW WA a year and a half ago. Believe me, I'd love to be able to drive anywhere, period. There are lousy and aggressive drivers everywhere. I learned to drive on the freeways around St Louis MO, and since then I've driven from Alaska to western NY through Canada, up and down the west coast, and there really are lousy drivers everywhere.

As for some of the rest of what you've said, you'll be a lot happier if you make up your mind to enjoy what you have, rather than thinking you just have to be a good sport about it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you come for employment reasons? Do you have any idea how many people there are these days who would be more than happy to be able to say that? Consider the big picture, and count your blessings. Every day you can wake up in a comfortable bed, able to afford to have a cup of fresh coffee, are big ones.

And just to be nit-picky, California has NOTHING to do with the PNW. PNW stands for Pacific North West, i.e., Oregon, Wasington, and - depending on who you're talking to - Idaho and Alaska. Though, come to think of it, there's a debate going on in another forum about what constitutes the west coast; I guess if Arizona and Nevada can be considered part of the west coast, then maybe California can be part of the PNW after all.

By your post above, I thought you were referring to high school sports. I thought you were saying the high school kids in CA were not as into sports as they are in Oklahoma because there was so much more to do in California.

I was basically referring to Professional. The colleges have support but NFL...well that is why they lost them.. Not sure about the High Schools since I never attended school there nor had kids in school at the time.

First of all I am VERY thankful that my husband has a job and I have tried to be very positive minded about the move (for the most part). I can make my mind up to make the best of this move (which I have) but I don't have to put up with someone trying to make me speed by driving up against my bumper, you know what I mean? The driving thing and the near accident the other day really upset me. Since driving can cause injury and death it shouldn't be taken lightly and what I have seen in Tulsa is enough to make my hair stand up on end. And also, I cannot believe there isn't a helmet law for motorcyclists here.. Wow, unbelievable. My husband said that a guy came into the ER the other night with a severe/near fatal injury from not wearing a helmet while riding his bike.

Regarding my references to the PNW. I am referring to Oregon and Washington and if I threw California in the mix of my discussion then I did so negligently. I realize that the Northwest is the Northwest and I actually lived in SOUTHERN California, so sorry for the mix-up. Bottom line...it really doesn't matter what label or reference that I have made to any of the places that I have lived. My point is still the same.. The drivers in Tulsa are just as bad if not worse than Southern Cal and I am making an observation based on experience. Just because I am aware of bad drivers doesn't mean that I don't appreciate all the good things that I have been blessed with. I have said many positive things about Tulsa. But I won't retract my comments on the drivers. Sometimes the truth hurts...sorry... but it is the truth and other people have agreed THAT LIVE HERE. I don't mean to offend you or anyone else .

With that said, thanks for the advise, I really appreciate it. I am trying to make the best of this relocation and it will take some time. I am sure you can relate with me since you are also from Washington. Where exactly did you live? If you lived close to Seattle then I can see why you think there are bad drivers everywhere, LOL. I was fortunate to be in places in Oregon and Washington where the drivers were fantastic, considerate and laid-back.

I actually grew up in St Louis [MO], spent a few years moving around the PNW, then 31 years in Alaska. Where I lived in WA the last time was just a few miles from the border crossing at Blaine. Lots of Canadian drivers there, most of whom thought they had the right of way no matter where they were or what was going on around them. Lots of 2 lane roads with not only no sidewalks, but no shoulders to walk along, just the edge of the road dropping straight down 3 to 5 feet into an open ditch.

I have a friend who is subject to seizures brought on by stress - not epilepsy, but a head injury. Her son and grandchildren live in Seattle, and every couple years she visits them. She says she has to take her meds before he picks her up from the airport and she doesn't leave his house until it's time to return home. If she does, she has seizures because of the stress of simply riding around in the Seattle traffic - and she grew up there!

I wasn't trying to be snarky, it's just that I've always thought of getting to move someplace new was a great adventure. When I decided to come to OK, my friends, who live all over the continent, btw, referred to it as my Last Great Adventure. Not that I might not move again, but if I do, it won't be halfway across the country - the logistics are too daunting even for me, when one can no longer drive. Every place I've been I've tried to learn as much as possible about it's history, who lived there first, who were the first white settlers, how they got there, what they did - that kind of thing. Oklahoma is so rich in history I can't imagine not being excited about being here. And considering some of the stories I've been hearing from friends around the country, living anyplace where there is work available and one can actually afford to live, is an incredible blessing.

And I am not being snotty either or whining... I had just had a bad day when I started the thread. I am sure we will get used to Tulsa and enjoy the many benefits that Tulsa has to offer.

Thanks for the kindness...

Before fall sets in (and actually when it does it will be pretty as well) visit Woodward Park.

I was married in the Rose Garden in 1990. It's been there awhile.

My marriage? Well, that's a different story...

OMG, I didn't realize you could have a wedding there. If I'd have known that, we could've renewed our vows or something. We loved Woodward Park.

I used to live in Oregon. The difference is dramatic between Oregon and anywhere. People in Oregon drive 5 miles below the speed limit and are typically not in a hurry to get anywhere.

In Oklahoma we typically drive 5 to 10 miles over the speed limit. If you are driving below the speed limit on the highway expect to get scorned! People on the highways are trying to get to work or a hot date that cannot wait!

You just need to adjust to your surroundings. I got used to people running stop lights in Denver. The light would turn red and 5 cars would go through it. We almost got rear ended twice for stopping when it turned red.

I visited Seattle a lot when I was in Oregon and those people drive like maniacs! They drive 20 MPH over!

Don't even get me started about drivers in NY.

The point is drive 5 MPH over the speed limit and don't drive in the fast lane.
