Yes, but cramming religion down their throats and threatening them with going to hell ain't going to do it.

Obviously you've never attended one of the Nightmare tours or are otherwise acquainted with responsible Christian witnessing........

UH OH I have to disagree I don't see it as "cramming religion down their throats". I see it as a responsible venue for helping kids make the right decisions in life. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Now days parents need all the help they can get. If one kid is turned around by listening to someone else that has gone through what they are going through then it is worth it, and to throw a bit of worship in their aint a bad thing.

Goodpasture, I am so glad that you and I are in agreement with this discussion, LOL . I personally went with my boys and I thought it was a good thing and witnessed many people (youth primarily) praying afterwards and giving their lives to Christ.
I wish somebody would have scared me when I was a foolish teenager making stupid decisions because honestly I am lucky to be alive today. Nobody, primarily my parents, talked to me about consequences and many of the youth today are in the same sad scenerio. Yes, it is the parents job or role to teach their kids but many are failing to do so and that is where "GUTS" comes in...to fill in the gap.
It isn't that certain churches are scaring people into anything but they are facing and showing the reality of things and consequences that happen on a daily basis. Most teens DO NOT read the newspaper, look at the obits or turn on the news. If more teens or people in general were aware of how one bad choice could ruin a life perhaps those choices would not be made. I really believe through personal experience that ignorance is the cause of most heartache or "nightmares" and "GUTS" is gutsy enough to talk about those things that remain untalked about, covered up or ignored.
We (my boys and I) had a long discussion last night after attending the event about consequences and sinful behavior and then we prayed before we went to bed as usual. We prayed for troubled teens, hurting people and for many to receive Christ in the next several weeks.
Wow!! How many teens actually sit down with a parent and talk about those things? It was a positive experience for my family and I am sure it is positive for many others as well.
May God move in a mighty way in whatever method He chooses to work in.

Ok .. so what about people who are not Christians?
Personally, I find a visit to the local jail much more effective. And that way they learn what the consequences are of ILLEGAL behaviour and dumb decisions rather than sinful ones. Because that "sinful" only effects a portion of the population.
