We actually love the Golden Corral. It's not so much hicksville here in Shawnee, more like serious eating competition.

And we call it something different, has to do with rainy weather...

Back on topic, before we get a Mod slap.

Thanks for getting back on topic Annemieke.. Well one thing is for sure. I cannot make anyone believe in the Bible. That is a faith issue. I do know this... I couldn't imagine how an artist or should I call God an "inventor" would not have an instruction manual to go with His creation.

Personally, I wouldn't think life would be worth living without the hope of what is to come... I didn't believe God or Jesus until 1981 and my life was a total wreck. God has done so much for me and has blessed me beyond measure. I believe in the book...

You guys crack me up!! HaHa!! Now mind you, the Golden Corral in Washington was pretty good which surprised me because I think the food in Tulsa is better than Washington especially the steak. Anyway, how did we get on this topic anyway I thought we were talking about "nightmare"?

I was going to respond to the discussion on the validity of the bible, but there is a forum for that and this is not the place. I think it is the place to discuss how the bible and the church and the christian community in Oklahoma relate.

On one hand, I think the steaks at Corral are at best mediocre and plentiful. That some parts of the country think they are really good speaks more to the lack of good steaks in that area than the quality of the steaks at the Corral. If you like baked chicken and salad for lunch, though, it is hard to beat their price.........

We've pretty well exhausted nightmare, haven't we? We have a group that thinks the lessons being taught are excellent, then we have the group who, not having experienced it, think it is another method of scaring people into salvation.......both have their points, but I think several of the people who are disdainful of the concept simply don't understand what is going on there.

Also, some of us think the bible is the inerrant word of God, while others think it is a belly laugh. That is an ok thing in a society that values freedom of faith more than it does strict adherence to some doctrine or other....but that specific discussion belongs elsewhere.

Did I cover it all? I think so..................................

There are many other ways to believe in a "supreme being".

.
Guts is hardly the first/only church to come up with this concept. The town I used to live in started something similar (called it the House of Horrors) 20 years ago.

I actually asked the Pastor's wife that same question. She said it wasn't a short-cut for anything but meant "do you have the guts to be a Christian?" I think it is a pretty interesting name that gets one's attention. I also think that there are quite a few Christians that are very traditional and are uncomfortable with anything outside of the "box". There are many that think that dramatizations like "Nightmare", rock music, wearing jeans or anything besides organ music or wearing a suit and tie is not Godly. GUTS is a non-denomination church that believes in the Word of God.

I have to agree with Goodpasture..this discussion belongs on another forum. I only started this thread because I wanted to share something positive that was taking place in Tulsa instead of complaining about the traffic. And just like the thread regarding the fair, I think "Nightmare" definately has its place in this town.. Good for GUTS!!! It might not be for everyone but it worked for my boys and I....
